Best place in Hokitika with the most amazing person Karen. I purchased a ring there for my birthday. Unfortunately couple of weeks later one of the lil gems fell out. I contacted the gallery and Karen was so helpful. She contacted the ring maker and after I dropped the ring off she got them to mend it for me. Communication over the email was prompt and kind.
I would definitely recommend buying your souvenirs or gifts from here as not only it supports the local artists but also the people who work there.

I’m not really an artsy person however highly recommend a visit to this gallery. Unique amazing works by New Zealand artists. Owner was a fantastic guy to talk to and highly supportive of talented local artists. Left the shop with a number of awesome works. Everyone should visit this place.

Absolutely fabulous craft shop to satisfy a large range of interests and very friendly staff. The most outstand part was I emailed them asking if they could courier an item I had spied and taken a photo of without my wife detecting me, it is for Mother’s Day. The correspondence was lightening quick, answered all my questions and provided me with bank details. I purchase the item around 1pm and it was on my door step at 950am the next day, we are in CHCH, NZ. It might be just over the alps, but I was expecting 2-3 days. The packaging was also top class. The item individually wrapped, then placed in a good-sized box with plenty of paper strips cushioning the item, brilliant. I’m extremely happy and will defiantly return, must see for all, great experience. Thanks, a mill, Trevor, Yes, I’m a male in a craft shop! and what an enjoyable experience it was….

We customarily buy a piece of local art as a memento of our travels & this gallery was the perfect place to pick something up. Definitely a must see! We enjoyed the great variety available from prints to sculpture. Keep your eyes open so you don't miss a thing!

The staff at the Hokitika Gallery went out of their way to help me find a pounamu for my daughter. I live out of town so they sent various photos, arranged online payment and sent the poumanu asap so it arrived in time for my daughter's birthday. Great service

Amazing place. I could have spent a lot of time looking through everything here. Local artists with a huge array of talents from jewellery to painting, cards, garden art, pottery, wood, glass, bronze weaving, and much much more... Awesome skills on display.

really good service and friendly help both from the owner and employees in the store. We bought 6 pieces of greenstone jewelry as well as 3 pieces of wall art. Come back to the store several times throughout the day. Had some good conversations and the children ended up getting some raw pieces of greenstone, which they were also really happy about.

The Hokitika craft gallery has a beautiful selection of treasures to select from. Many beautiful artworks, trinkets, and keepsakes can be found. I had a wonderful experience in the store and enjoyed finding out more about the local artists.

On walking past I was immediately drawn to this gallery as a craftsperson myself. I am a Kiwi and rarely visit the plethora of tourist craft shops that abound in our country. The Hokitika Craft Gallery offers beautifully crafted objects by local artists. They have a range of items that I've not seen anywhere before. Bought some beautiful little gift cards for future use. Locally made beard balm for my husband, hand balm for myself (both with without plastic containers). And only just resisted the beautiful garden sculptures on display.
The lovely lady working during my visit was both welcoming and very knowledgeable about the 70+ artists and crafts people represented in the shop.
Would definitely visit again and highly recommend if you're looking for a unique and we'll made local item.

What a gem! Such a well merchandised gallery of quality local and New Zealand art and craft, the shop is not cluttered, is stocked with a fabulous selection Aotearoa New Zealand inspired ware, we were welcomed into the store with a beautiful smile, this really was our top retail experience in Hokitika. Well done Hokitika Gift Gallery. Highly recommended.
