It's an easy walk from the car park. The water color of the gorges can have a deep turquoise. Enjoy the scenic drive from Hokitika (esp. on a sunny day).

A really nice and easy drive to get to. If you are within the area and have accommodation within West Coast its a good idea to visit this.. but if you are only coming for the day perhaps not. Easy walk. My husband was wearing a boot for his fractured ankle and he was able to do the walk because... More

a bit out of the way to get to but definitely worth it. Beautiful walk, incredibly blue water (even on an overcast day), cold water, sandflies, very photogenic, Highly recommend!

The Hokitika Gorge Scenic reserve is beautiful and I am glad we put it on our itenerary to visit. We didn't need much time to get there from Hokitika town and the walk in the reserve is just about thirty minutes. It was great being in nature and so much colour. The turquoise and true blue waters, the lush green... More

We arrived early afternoon, did not seem to be too busy. Well made path to the gorge, the walk was beautiful. Unfortunately the water was not the arctic blue we were expecting as it had rained the night before. But still a wonderful walk. Be prepared for sand flies, the area awful! Use insect repellant!

Beautiful walk to see the gorge. The water is an amazing blue! Saw several daredevils jumping into the water from the bridge. Well worth the detour drive!

This is definitely a place not to miss! Go early! When we were there in February, we got there about 8:30a and shared the place with only 4 other people. By the time we left at 10:00a, the place was crawling with people. So, if you want a chance of getting that iconic photo standing on the rocky outcrop looking... More

Awesome! The bluest water you will see! Easy hike to get to the bridge. Kind of a long drive to get there but worth it. It was foggy when we got there but cleared so we were able to get a great visualization of the water. Would recommend getting there early to avoid crowds.

This was a fantastic, easy stroll through the bush. Beautiful scenery, but don't forget your bug spray!
