Stunning view of Hokitika Gorge backed by cliffs and lush rimu forest Crossing a swing bridge to get closer to the excellent views of the colorful blue-green waters of the Hokitika River. Must see it!!

A mere one kilometre walk to an incredible view. The trail is narrow and wouldn't accomodate a wheelchair. Easy walk with children.

One of the best icon of Hokitika. We had to walk a few minutes, and walk over the swing bridge. After that, we can go down touching the blue and clear water. I tried to swim but it was very cold. I do not feel tired. Hokitika gorge is so gorgeus. Not recommended for visiting Hokitika Gorge after heavy rain,... More

Amazing blue waters and easy walk to first viewing platform. Definitely take the walk down to the cable bridge if you can.

A hidden gem about 30 minutes away from Hokitika town centre, definitely worth the time to detour from SH6. The 30 minutes drive to the Hokitika Gorge itself is a pleasant journey. The place is simply gorgeous! Highly recommended.

The gorge itself is a beautiful 40 minute (each way) drive from Hokitika. There is ample parking, informative signs and public toilets at the carpark. The walk down to the gorge takes about 10/15 minutes. There is a viewing platform only a short walk in which may be accessible by wheelchair if weather permits.

I totally recommend to go there during Winter time. It is empty and you can see the crystal clear blue water without anyone around.

Stunningly beautiful, an easy ten minute walk through native forest, lots of native birds across a bridge over the canyon to a rocky beach. Just don't forget your insect repellent !
