Loved this walk. The plant life and scenery was just so beautiful and I couldn't stop taking photos. We took our three year old in the Pram which was fine. Even on the suspension bridge was no problem. Be aware though if you stand still for too long you will get bitten by sandflies or whatever the equivalent is. Well... More

The gorge was stunning with its aquamarine water and the scenery around it. I would definitely recommend seeing the Hokitika Gorge

Takes about 20 mins by car to get to the gorge from Hokitika. Well worth the trip! Weather was sunny so water through the gorge was the famous aqua colour. Lovely little walk to the "beach" over the swing bridge. It's a must do ...

If you have a spare half day take a trip to the Hokitika Gorge. and return by the Lake Kaniere road. Both a raw and well worth the trip. Despite DOC's efforts to upgrade the track. It is still well worth the short walk in. Cross the Bridge and take a look on the otherside it is worth it. Theccolour... More

It's about 30 min drive from hokitika. Nice gorge, beautiful colours, otherwise nothing highly exceptional. Does it worth the detour? Yes definitely if you have time, but I wouldn't bother if you have a tight schedule.

A quick side trip on the way from Franz Josef to Greymouth. 33km from Hokitika town centre. Be prepared for lots of turns; however roads are well-signed, so no problem. We went in the winter months and there were a few sandflies around (they bite). I imagine insect repellent is a must in summer?!?

Drove down from Greymouth and it took around an hour to get there. It was fairly well signposted from the highway and the drive wasn't too windy. The gorge itself was beautiful. A short bush walk to the suspension bridge for a gorgeous view down the gorge. Walking down further leads you to the waters edge where you can touch... More

It's about a 30 mins drive out of Hokitika but if you've time to spare it's worth a visit. Once there it's about a 30 min round trip.

A really stunning but calming place. A short walk with moderate inclines from the car park to swing bridge. Father in law with several knee surgeries completed with ease
