Visited on Saturday 12th May. It is well worth driving out to the Brunner Mine site at Taylorville. There is plenty still there to see with display boards giving a detailed history of the site. And it free to see.

This was really interesting with lots of interesting facts and explains what happened in New Zealands worst mining disaster. We spent an easy hour even though it was a freezing day. Very beautiful scenery.

A really good historical site with full details of the mining past. Awesome bridge across the river and a detailed account of the mining disaster of 1896. Well preserved remnants of a past which opened up the area.

Quite amazing history and well preserved to get a good idea of the old days. Incredible how hard people worked in the old days all in the hope of a better future.
