Popped in to take a look around as we had some spare time waiting for the train. It was well worth it. Koha (donation) for entry. THere were some wonderful pieces that you would expect to find in a much bigger gallery. A couple of artists were on hand to talk to us and if our suitcases hadn't been so full, we would have walked out with a couple of pieces.

This little gallery down by the breakwater is a recycled bank building which no doubt is built on gold! It showcases NZ, and more particularly local art, crafts and artefacts. There is a selling space at the front with the more affordable tourist items and as it's sort of opposite the train station, it's a good place to visit if you are time limited by the short turn around of the Tranz Alpine Express. There is no admission fee but make koha at the door, if you feel so inclined.

We enjoyed our visit to this gallery. We particularly liked the very large painting of cliffs with good recessions. They appreciate a donation as an entry fee.
