Day trips or overnight trips to Moko Hinau Islands for the serious fishing team. Big Game fishing - marlin January to May.

Steve the owner was great. Good sense of humour and put the customer first. Knows his stuff and ensures everyone has a great experience. Highly recommended.

Good day out, everything is supplied, the rods and reels have seen better days but you can take your own if that helps. The captain (owner) comes across as a miserable old bugger but he is knowledgeable and puts you on the fish which is what counts. We had a great day catching five or six different species, all filleted and ready for cooking by the deckhands on the way back to the berth. All in all a good day out!!

There are a number of things that can make or break a great days fishing and today Bream Bay Charters have reached and exceeded all of my expectations in relation to fine fishing experiences.
Captain: Steve is an absolute legend for a skipper. He is active, friendly and nothing is too much trouble for him. He gauged the level of experience of each of the anglers and assisted accordingly. On top of that he kept the jug boiled and the spirits high with his witty humour.
Boat: Sumo was a magnificent vessel with all the luxuries you often hope for on Charters and quit often never get. There is a cabin, kitchen and a fully enclosed outside area with tables and cushie seats for everyone. The ride was smooth and we moved at pace when the conditions permitted. Lots of cool electronics to help in finding the fish too.
Fish: not always a given but fish are an important part of the day and I am confident that if someone can put you on the fish, Captain Steve can and will. OMG we had an awesome day on the snapper, kings, kahawhi and trevally.
Wrap Up: I have fished a lot of different places in NZ and Australia and with the synergy the Steve has from Present Captaining, the Comfort of the Vessel and the luck we had with the fish I can openly say the this Charter is Simply the Best and would recommend it to everyone.

I’m very pleased you enjoyed the trip.
Heaven only knows what you done with all those fish mate! I bet you were relieved ( in hindsight ) that I encouraged you all to release most of them.
Also sorry to be so booked up and unable to organise a repeat trip for you before you return to Ausy.

Brilliant! Have been on a couple charters in Bream Bay and now I don't need to try anyone else. Steve and Cara J came highly recommended by many locals and now having been out I can see why! Put us on fish quickly and was there when we needed help. Thanks for a great day out Steve :)

I have done the trip twice and both times had a great time, Caught fish, had a great BBQ lunch, watched sea and marine life and received massive amounts of refreshing salty air.
The boat is well set up for fishing and if you wish to use your own gear that's great but it is all supplied including bait plus on the way home its all cleaned.

Recently went out for an overnight trip on the Cara J to the Mokohina Islands.
Started off jigging for King Fish and than over to the Islands for Snapper and Trevally. Steve (The owner and skipper) put on us on to some wonderful spots. We bought the food but he did the cooking , skippered the boat and really looked after us. Not flash but a really practical solid boat. Steve was great. Friendly, really engaging, funny and helpful.
Would highly recommend this charter business for a day or overnight experience.
By the way, we caught our limit of fish within four hours and were throwing them back.
Lots of fun and a wonderful experience.

Hello... Please let me know how much you charge for both half and full day fishing, would that include tackle and bait? We are two young at heart retired ladies who are hoping to come up your way late January or early February and go on a charter on a Friday a Saturday or a Sunday. Look forward to hearing from you with fees, times etc. Thanks, Di.

Day line fishing Charters aboard Cara J ; prices to the Hen & Chicks Islands start at $120 P/P for groups of 8 or more people. I.E. Minimum boat hire rate of $960.
Note; I have an individuals/casuals rate of $130 each if you join up with others.
Day line fishing Charters aboard Cara J ; prices to the Moko Hinau Islands start at $220 P/P for groups of 8 or more people. I.E. Minimum boat hire rate of $1,760.
Half day or evening line fishing charters start at $100 P/P with groups of 7 or more. I.E. Minimum charge of $700 to charter the Cara J to Bream Heads or $800 minimum to the Chicken Islands.
I have hire rods available if required at $15 or $25 each, your choice.
I can supply the bait & burley & Ice at $25 P/P for the day trip & $18 p/p for the half day or evening trip. Steve 0274 749751
