Finally! Kiwi birds up close!

The place is quiet and clean with lots of historical things to see. Go there around the kiwi bird feeding time! It is so worth the visit.

Came with my partner, wasn't the greatest weather but enjoyed ourselves! Lots to look at, I thought it was a bit pricey though

We loved the kiwi viewing in the dark room. The female was very active and would go left to right continuously in the rear of the enclosure !

This is a lovely little place, there's plenty to see and do. Sadly on our visit it was raining heavily so we didn't do the outside areas. However, we did look around the small museum which was quite informative. Back in the main reception building we waited until feeding time for the Kiwi and our patience paid off. We had... More

We went on a Wednesday morning to see the Kiwi birds. We were greeted by very friendly staff, and Kevin the bird's keeper. The exhibit is a scientific marvel, the birds are adorable. Kevin talked with us for quite a while and answered all of our questions. I left feeling like I made a new friend there. The war museum... More

A lovely museum combined with NZ natives including a male and female kiwi. I agree with previous reviews - go at feeing time to be sure to see the Kiwis come out.

We brought our Chinese visitor here to see kiwi and a museum of NZ colonial history. We were not disappointed. We got to see both kiwis, before feeding time. We looked through the old colonial buildings and the museum display, which were well presented. I would bring overseas guests here again.
