Mammoth is an impressive, gothic-like cave that could easily be described as the perfect home for a caveman. Tours are self-guided with an audio headset and begin via an elevated boardwalk through towering Karri forest. As you journey through the spectacular formations lookout for the carefully lit animal bones and fossils and listen to the stories about extinct animals. Wildflowers are abundant around the precinct from September to November. Located 22km south of Margaret River.

Visited this huge cave and was impressed by its size and fossil finds. Not for young children though because they may not be able to appreciate it. Interesting to those interested in geology or caves I guess.

Visited Mammoth Caves as one of 3 ( Jewel & Lake being the other 2). This was nice because it was self guided with an audio set, so you could go at your own pace. In saying that, I did prefer the other 2 caves from a visual point, but this one was still nice. Went as a family with... More

The lovely lady on reception explained about the audio guide and off we went. fter the reception area the cave opened up into a huge area which was facinating. The audio guide is excellent eplaining as you go. Unfortunately I decided not to go up the steps after all. My daughter and granddaughter carried on and told me that after... More

We visited Mammoth and Lake Cave together. Both excellent, but different. Mammoth Cave is high and wide, though not very long. It was quite quiet when we visited and there were only a few other visitors. You do not need to have a guided tour, you can just stroll through it admiring the place.

You can make it also as a self guided tour and you see lots of interesting things in it. At the end you have to go back on a short walking track through beautiful landscape and also over a little river. Depends on the season if u can pass it. Read the signs on the track

This cave has a gentle entrance and is a self guided tour you are given a headset and you press the corresponding number. There are times when the audio guide talks about something to come but doesn't tell you to move on. The climb up the end is about 170 steps but not too taxing overall. There is a crossing... More
