This was probably the best wine tour we have been on. As we drove around Chris gave a continuous commentary on why and how wine production started in the Margaret River area and how the industry has developed from its early days. And then there were the tastings, we tried 12 different wines at one winery where we also had a wonderful lunch! Thanks Chris.

We have been to many wine tours in various countries and in 2 other areas in Australia. We booked this tour based on the good reviews here. This tour was just average mainly because of the itinerary, the tour leader Lawrence was nice, informative and courteous. The vehicle was comfortable and there were 8 of us who joined the tour. The tour started with a visit to a small winery Coward & Black/ Providence with some good sampling’s of local produce of olive oil, jams and preserves. Then off by to a small chocolate place with some sampling’s followed by a soap and lotion and the highlight of the day which was wine sampling and a nice lunch at Clairault Streicker. The lunch was delicious with a beetroot soup followed by salad and pork belly. You have to pay for any wines you order for your lunch. Next is cheese tasting and a bigger chocolate place followed by a last stop at Juniper for wine tasting. It’s just a lot of up and down the bus with some visits which only took 5 to 10 minutes. What would have made this tour from average to great would have been a stop by a scenic place and just skip one of the smaller chocolate place which didn’t offer a lot of tastings anyways. It would have given us some fresh air and be energized.

Chris was our host and was very passionate about the region and it's wine. Not normally a Chardonnay or Cabernet drinker....I am now a fan of these varieties from Margaret River wine region. A very enjoyable day and would recommend this tour to people who want to know a little more about the wine varieties and differences from one part of the region to the next. Lloyd & Lynda SA
