About
We are the Loopline Railway Museum and Information Centre. We have historic mining and rail displays of various items from the early days in the Goldfields. Our displays have been kindly donated by local community members or are on loan from the Eastern Goldfields Historical Society. Come down and visit us at our Boulder City Station, which once was part of one of the busiest railway networks in Australia, explore through our Museum and enjoy our collection. Sit back and enjoy a relaxing massage in our massage chair while you watch our videos playing in our media room. Take photos with the Darlek on display which is on loan to us by a local artist. Visit our old miners huts that are currently surrounded by beautiful flowers. Finish your Loopline experience with some souvenirs from our gift shop, and why not make it memorable with some rail art. Our rail art is made by our volunteers using Loopline dog spikes that are over 100 years old and rail clips.

Good experience
Oct 2021
We took the Loopline Tram Tour that leaves from beside the Visitor Centre in Kalgoorlie. I thought it was fun, apparently they have a couple of spots they always visit and then they mix up the other three stops. We stopped at The School of Mines, The Superpit Lookout, Stumpys Woodworking, an Art Centre in Town and then the Boulder Town Hall. On the way to all these destinations the driver took us to historic sites and gave us lots of information on the history of Kalgoorlie Boulder. We thought the price was good and we enjoyed the tour.

The Tram is run by this society
Oct 2021
Cant comment on the Rail Society as such, but they operate the tram tour from the Visitors Centre. Not worth the ride. Not a lot of history was told and we were taken to 5 places that only 2 were worth visiting. Sorry not a great experience at all.

The Golden Mile Loopline heritage site is currently closed.
The site is an important part of the Goldfields of Western Australias collective history. Hopefully it will reopen sometime in the future.
There is a Tram (road transport) available for various tours of Kalgoorlie Boulder, bookings through the Kalgoorlie Boulder Visitor Centre. It is called the Golden Mile Loopline Tram so can be a little confusing with this closed site.

Interesting and Informative
Sep 2020
A great idea on a character themed tram replica. It provided a very good overview of the area.
Unfortunately, the tour was overbooked and 8 adult guests were crammed into the forward front/rear facing seats - ok for 4 adults and 4 children but not 8 adults for the 2 hour tour.

This was an interesting place to spend and hour or two at. Old buildings, the Railway Station architecture was great. Some artefacts and old rolling stock.

If you are into Trains/Railways this is a must
Dec 2017 • Solo
A quiet drive brings you to an impressive driveway that will take you to the old station - plenty of parking
I spent some time wandering around the station looking at artifacts before going over to the engine shed
I will be back

If you're into trains
Jul 2018 • Family
We accidentally stumbled on this place and worth a visit if you're into trains. The entrance is free but donations are accepted. There's a small gift shop and lots of history of this railway.

Small But Interesting Museum
Mar 2018 • Couples
This small museum is located at the entrance to Boulder a short distance out of Kalgoorlie.
Out the front it has a nice picnic area and playground. The museum itself is the old Boulder Railway Station that formed part of the original loop railway that operated so many years ago. The museum contains many interesting facts and memorabilia from days gone by. The society have plans for additional displays and expansion and it will be most interesting to see how that evolves in the years to come.
Just the same, for the railway fanatics, it is worth a visit.

Brief History of Rail in Kalgoorlie - Boulder
Mar 2018 • Couples
This was an interesting visit which highlighted the brief history of the 'Railway' in this area. It was a shame though, that due to the expansion of the 'Super Pit' they were unable to offer anything associated with a ride on the railway.
