Unfortunately, the dolphin discovery center was still in the process of being upgraded and was not open. However, we had the delightful experience of having dolphins swim right up to us at the shore, within a boundary called the interaction zone (it's actually illegal to...More

While finding Pump Beach was a little challenging with no signs, that was soon forgotten as we set off in search of dolphins. Conditions on the bay were choppy so we started in the very sheltered water of the lagoon. As this was unsuccessful, skipper...More

Small well run attraction. Helpful knowledgeable staff. Keen to show visitors the exhibits and feeding time was fun to watch. Good value for money. Shutting down till Dec 18 for upgrading. Should be even better.

Swimming with Dolphins (3 Replies)
Hi guys, would like to seek your opinion. My girlfriend and I are arriving Perth on 29 Apr and return 8 May (10 days) We will head southwest this time round and making our way to Rockingham, Mandurah, Burnsbury, Magaret River, Albany and back to Perth. Understand that there are 2 vendors (Rockingham Wild Encounters & Dolphin Discovery Centre Bunbury) that operates swimming with dolphins in South West region Has anyone tried them before? Which vendor do you recommend? I cant seem...More

Rockingham Wild Encounters is a boat trip swimming with wild animals in the sea like seals and dolphins who aren't fed - so the ones you see are just curious, not caged, so no guarantees but fairly good chance of seeing wild sea-going animals. This is probably the more authentic of the two options in my experience. Dolphin Discovery Centre Bunbury do feed dolphins who come to shore near the centre for free handouts, but again no guarantees of seeing one - and you are not so much swimming as...More

Hi! I'm planning a trip to Perth in mid October with 3 adults (incl. an elderly), a teenager (12 years) and a toddler (3 years). We only have 5 nights (wished we could stay longer). I do not have a firm itinerary yet, but will like to have 2 nights farm stay and 3 nights either in Perth or Fremantle. What interests us so far is Caversham Wildlife Park, Dolphin Discovery Centre near Bunbury, King's Park, Fremantle markets, a beach. Most importantly, we want to enjoy a relaxed We are...More

Thank you Kerry1G for your response and suggestions. The links to Swan Valley are helpful. Checked out quite a few farm stays in Swan Valley recommended on TA and found them all fully booked during our intended period of travel. What a pity! Understand Oct is the school holiday period in WA. Looks like we might need to reconsider our plans. We might look at farm stays in Margaret River region. MR is definitely exciting with attractions more than vines and wineries. Just thought we could...More

I'll be traveling to Perth for the very first time on Aug 11 for 6 days with hubby and a 16-mth old girl. Here is what i have planned and would appreciate any feedback, or suggestions of places which i shouldnt miss :-) Day 1, Sat- Arrive in Perth at 6.25am. Pick up car at airport and check in apartment at Riverside. Since it's the first day, decide to take it slow and explore the Kings Park and the city Day 2, Sun - Freemantle. Visit Freemantle Prison (is it worth going?), weekend...More

I suggest only one wildlife park, and I'd go for Caversham. I highly recommend Lamont's for lunch (Swan Valley), but they're only open Thurs-Sun, so that's a consideration. Some of the larger wineries (Oakover, Houghton) serve meals most days. Penny Garden is open most days too - I've not eaten there, but have heard it's good, and the bonus is that they're right next door to Yahava Koffeeworks (wonderful coffee). I sincerely doubt you'll fit AQWA into Day 3, as it's in the opposite...More
