Robb wanted to book a fishing charter if any were running but of course they weren't with current restrictions but we did pick up other information we needed. Staff were very helpful but there were three staff on board and lately they have only had two or three people call in each day. They are reviewing their opening hours because of this, it can't be helped but it is very sad.

Easy parking and just on the left as you enter town. Aldi right next door if you need supplies. Staff were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Art exhibition was showing at the time and definitely worth the time to stop an enjoy. Lots of brochures for local and surrounds.

Easy to find and large carpark with modern facility. Alot of brochures on the local area and staff provided some information to direct questions but were more interested in quizzing each other on local information. Personally found the owner of where we stayed much much more helpful.

If you are driving into Lakes Entrance from Melbourne direction, you drive over the road bridge ( over the North Arm) , turn left at the roundabout and an immediate right into the carpark for the Information Centre. It's on a very prominent corner in town. If you have a boat or caravan, directly across the road next to the waterway there are parks for your longer vehicles.
There is a reasonable amount of car parking available. From the carpark there is a shelter structure you walk through that has a map of the local area (brilliant map)The area also has a postal box for those interested in sending postcards or letters from there. There is a large grassy area so your dog can also stretch their legs. Directly in front of the centre there are picnic tables with garden beds around them.
On the front windows there is information about fishing and other things for the area... No real list of things to do for when the centre is closed. I dropped in here and it was not open... according to the sign it was twenty minutes before opening when I left.. I could have waited but decided to keep moving to explore the area. I could see a gift shop inside.

On my first day in Lakes Entrance I visited the information centre.
Very friendly helpful staff.
A very good centre right on the main road as you enter town from the Melbourne side, impossible to miss it .
A very good selection of information brochures for the immediate area and beyond.

Thanks for a great facility and we booked our tours here. The staff were great. Separate point though, we were unimpressed seafood in a fishing town is more expensive than Melbourne. Moreso when you can see the boats and seafood coop across the road and roundabout. This turned us off and we felt we were being ripped off. Same for Steak prices, to charge on average over $30 pers steak meal then dig out $2-3 for a sauce did not rapt us. My advice to travellers, buy your food from Woolies and BBQ your own.

After I walked in a younger girl walks in beside me and the guy at the counter asked her if she needed help. I answered him and he still continued to ignore me and then lead her away. I waited until he was finished and she left and then he walked out the back. So I left with as many pretty free brochures as I could away and flipped him the bird.

This is a "one stop shop" for all local attractions including cruises, hiking/walking/riding trails. Overall an excellent place to find out what to do when in this amazing area.

Hi, we (wife and I) are thinking of driving from Sale for the day of sightseeing on Sat 30 Jan. How long will it take to get there and can you suggest some activities that we can do in priority order?
Thanks

Hi Nelson, it's about 100k and about 75 minutes drive for you from Sale. There is so much to see and do there but I think i day wouldn't be enough. However, do stop at the look out at Kalimna just before you descend to Lakes Entrance, then the visitor information centre is well worth a stop. The staff there are very friendly and knowledgeable and will give you the best advice to suit your tastes. You have great walks, boat trips, big choice of eateries. For us Wyanga park winery was a must see and do. Old world charm with greater food and tastings. Enjoy your trip.
