I recently visited the Geelong Botanical Gardens, and I was really impressed. It’s such a peaceful spot. The gardens are so well-kept, with a mix of lush greenery, colourful flowers, and shady trees—perfect for a relaxing stroll. I loved wandering through the different sections and taking in the variety of plants. It’s a great place to just take your time, enjoy nature, and even have a picnic on the lawn. It’s not too crowded, which makes it feel like a bit of a hidden gem. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

The Geelong Botanic Gardens were established in 1850 and are the fourth oldest botanic garden in Australia.

My wife and I walked across the entire gardens during our recent visit to Geelong. The Gardens are well maintained and very scenic.

We walked inside the Glass House Conservatory and it was hot and humid inside.

We visited the gardens whilst on a short break in Geelong. We have a 13, 15 and 6 year old. Everyone loved walking through the gardens looking at the variety of plants. Especially when they had grown to a size we had not seen before. The gardens provoked great imagination with all the kids and amazing stories and discussions were held about the different species of plants we saw. The kids also enjoyed finding different insects that live within the gardens. For those who are allergic to bee be careful when walking down the left hand side path. There is a huge Berns nest in the the knot of the tree just past the bottle trees

Gardens great to visit, and the new very warm hot house is interesting. But the coffee house in the gardens is another subject. The staff very rude except the little waitress. A group of about 10 of us turned up at 10.15 for morning tea, we were told rudely when we ordered could not cash our $50 note as will be a quiet day. Why don't you at least start day with some small change, 3 staff were working, we were the only people around, try visiting the the bank before opening up. Then got told off for moving the chairs. Needless to say, won't be back. There are other coffee shops nearby which would be more accommodating and friendly.

These gardens are really lovely ... not huge, but well worth a visit. Beautiful flowers when we visited in January. It seriously, avoid the cafe. We shared a focaccia, which barely had any filling and was pretty unpleasant. We also had a voucher for a Devonshire Tea. I so wish we hadn’t! The tea itself came in a little pot which barely gave you one cup. My friend’s cup was dirty, so a member of staff fetched her a clean one, and plonked it on the table to show exactly what he thought of us. To be fair, the cafe employs and trains young people, so they are learning.

The Devonshire tea comprised one tasteless cold scone, already cut and smeared with jam and a tiny amount of cream ... all in a cardboard box. Oh dear.

Was very suprised at how good it was. It's not huge, but they've gone for quality over quantity. The place is immaculate.
We went at 5pm on a Monday afternoon and were there for 30 minutes before we saw anyone else. Very peaceful.

The Geelong Botanical Gardens are just stunning. There is bits for everyone from rose gardens, exotic plants, paths to wander of the little cafe to have a drink. This site is maintained to an exceptional standard and should be on any visitors list.

The expression stop and smell the roses. Well we did. Numerous rose varieties in the central garden beds surrounded by all sorts of interesting plants from around the world. We spent an entire afternoon wandering the gardens and marvelling the extensive array of plants that the botanic gardens had on display.

The fourth oldest gardens in Victoria; a wonderful place, with free entry and a frontage outlook to the waters of Corio Bay. These are part of the expansive Eastern Gardens. Like an oasis on a hot day, usually at least 5-10 degrees cooler. Lawns are lush and beautifully maintained and historic aspects are recognised and acknowledged appropriately. There are 3 main sections- the 19C gardens, the 20C gardens and the newest development, the 21C gardens. A welcoming environment with friendly and helpful staff. Easy to see why these gardens are popular for weddings, concerts and other special occasions. Highly recommended.

What a great Botanical garden
It may not be huge but you can spend a reasonable amount of time wandering around the compact pathways cram packed with various plants. I was so immersed in my exploration and discovery and picture taking that I didn’t get to explore the whole garden. I will return one day.
