About
The PS Canberra is the oldest river boat in the Murray River Paddlesteamer fleet. Having celebrated her century in August 2013, the PS Canberra has been taking tourists on cruises along the Murray, Darling and Murrumbidgee rivers since 1944. With 100 years of working life under her hull and having carried hundreds of thousands of people the PS Canberra is one of the most travelled boats on the Murray River.

We Thoroughly recommend the PSCanberra hour cruise with Murray Paddlesteamers that we went on today. The crew were super friendly and extremely customer focussed, from the Skipper, to the lady stoking the fire, and Scott on the telephone.
It was great to see how the Murray River was in yesteryear.

We took our German Au pair and several other family members (and our pooch), for a trip on the Murray to Morrison’s Winery for a 2 course lunch and complimentary wine, followed by a 30 minute trip back.
The paddle steamer was great fun and our captain was hilarious, entertaining and informative!!
The winery was lovely - great food, nice wine, a terrific, fully enclosed, playground for the kids, and lots of roaming for the dog - including outside dining so someone could supervise him.
All in all, an excellent experience that we can highly recommend!

We took a lunchtime 1 hour cruise on a sunny Saturday. Our party of 7 included 3 generations. We all enjoyed the trip. Captain Beth’s commentary was lighthearted but full of interesting history. We appreciated Beth’s care in warning a nervous 5 year old when the ship’s whistle was to be blown, allowing him time to put on ear defenders. The crew also shifted the steamer’s position to improve access for passengers with limited mobility with no fuss or awkwardness. The steamer’s engine will interest anyone keen on vintage transport.

1 hour costs $27 which is on par with the other competitors company.
The experience is pretty much the same in al boats: half an hour down how river with the crew explaining the who story of the boats on site and then back.
Ballgame an hour takes yoh maybe 1 mile down the river but enough ground call it a river cruise
The boats engine is amazing and so is the vibe

We booked a 1hr cruise on the PS Canberra for Father's Day weekend and it was such a lovely experience. We had two children with us (6 and 9) who had never been on a boat before, and my partner had never been to Echuca (and is from overseas so never along the Murray!). One hour was a perfect time for young kids as it held their interest. There was plenty to see and the driver was fantastic. She was entertaining and engaging, and provided great historical information as we travelled. The kids were able to watch her steer the boat, and watch it dock. You can also walk around and explore, and watch from different viewpoints including upstairs and outside. The boat windows are clean so you can easily take photos from inside as well.
Some guests had a (very well behaved) dog with them, and we look forward to our next trip and bringing ours along too!

My wife Caz and I took a 1 hour cruise today on the 107 year old paddle steamer Canberra out of Echuca. The trip was fascinating and all of the staff were amazing, keeping us entertained as we headed down the river learning of the history of these craft and their critical importance in the development of this part of Australia.
As a keen follower of historic steam engines. This is one of the best examples I have seen and the engineer and crew are deservedly very proud of it.
We would recommend this trip and the folk at Murray River Paddle Steamers to anyone visiting Echuca Moama.

Today we enjoyed our Wharf to Winery cruise on the PS Canberra to Morrison’s winery. The paddle steamer had comfortable outdoor seating so we were able to enjoy the lovey weather. Our captain presented an informative and amusing commentary on or trip to and from the winery. Lunch at Morrison’s was tasty and filling, with 2 out of 3 gluten free options available for both entree and main. The location was lovely. All in all a pleasant trip.

Another peaceful scenic cruise on the PS Canberra. Captain Beth was an awesome host delivering valuable information with a touch of dry Aussie tongue in cheek humour. A real delight to be in the presence of. Thank you crew.

Booked the Canberra for our family as the young ones love watching the steam engine. Arrived and the wharf was closed and no staff. Close to departure decided to walk the 200m to the booking office to be told with no apology or otherwise that it was not operating and take the diesel Pride of the Murray. No options offered, or apologies. This is not a very good steamer with poor seating and too enclosed for comfort on a hot day.
No, email, text or even a paper notice posted at the wharf!!
Back at the wharf when I mentioned it to my family a large group of others also rushed over to the about to depart steamer as they we waiting for the Canberra as well..
As a region local I certainly won't be recommending or using the Murray River Steamers again, I'll go with the opposition who were operating normally.

Hi,
What a great way to chill, soak up the river scenery and learn about Echuca and Paddle steamer history. Staff were so friendly, they observed all Covid pre-cautions to ensure we were all safe, without detracting from
the experience itself. Beth the captain, in particular had a great sense of humour and we really wanted to take her to the winery with us afterwards!! My friend was wondering if Richard was single, because even with a mask on we all agreed he looked and sounded pretty hot👌
Would 100% recommend these tours for anyone, especially families. Thanks so much.
