Ballarat - Skipton Rail Trail - Full day adventure

1 review
Cycle the unsealed but gentle gradient 53km trail from Ballarat to Skipton. Meander through the wide open grasslands, eucalypt forests, historic bridges and quaint 19th century villages of Smythesdale, Scarsdale, Linton and Skipton. There are plenty of great places to stop along the way to bird watch and take in the flora and fauna. The Clarkesdale Bird Sanctuary will offer sightings of scarlet robins, eastern and crimson rosellas and above the treetops you may spot wedge tailed eagles and kites. Take along a picnic to enjoy at one of the many shelters along the way or enjoy a meal at the cafes and pubs on the route.

This is a great place to spend some time. The gardens at the moment are a picture, the flower beds are spectacular in their Christmas colours, the huge tree makes a great Christmas Tree. Some great statues adorn the gardens, marvellous statue of Queen Victoria just across from the front entry of the Town Hall. So many historic figures are honoured here, plenty of history to learn about.

Honestly, not that great in winter, but beautiful in the summer months. Runs down the main road in Ballarat. Lots of things to see here as well.
