A must to visit in Bairnsdale. Such a beautiful old church and you will get a sore neck gazing at the ceiling. We visited during an Easter Service so the church was full

This old church seems like you just step back in time, the paintings on the ceilings and walls take you back to another time

I find it difficult to review a church because they're all beautiful for being places of worshipping God, so will stick with the physical aspects only! St.Mary's cathedral is well worth a visit obviously for the intricate artwork. It's nothing like you would find anywhere else and definitely has a character all of its own. Quite extraordinary to find such... More

This church was hand painted by an Italian migrant in the 1930's. Some people liken to to the Sistine Chapel in Rome. It is visited by over 100000 people each year.

Worthwhile to see the amazing murals. The stained glass is impressive. Spent 30 minutes there. Well worth preserving this local treasure

This was my childhood church, and I was always mesmerised by the lavish and detailed full-wall/ceiling depiction of heaven, purgatory and hell behind the pulpit as I listened (sometimes not so attentively) to the service. The ceiling took the artist around 5 years to paint and it's worth a visit, whether you're of the Catholic persuasion or not.

This Church is a must see for anyone visiting East Gippsland VIC. The murals were painted by an Italian Immigrant that had trained at the Turin Academy of Arts during the 1930s depression and are just simply a feast for the eyes. When you walk through the doors it takes your breath away and feels like you just stepped into... More
