We spent useful and informative time here. The staff were very attentive and helpful and there is a good range of material to take away. One staff member even came outside to show us where the Tiger bus (free) stop was located!

I was trying to book my family holiday which I was struggling with - until Yvette from the visitor information centre responded to my email. She was so helpful in suggesting and booking accommodation, finding the Cradle Mountain trip and keeping in touch with me by email and phone. My interactions were all on-line or by phone, I didn't actually visit the centre. She did this without being pushy which is quite a skill. A star employee.

We called in here on a Sunday afternoon and were impressed by the great service (I think the lady's name was Barbara). She was vey knowledgeable and guided us towards the activities we were interested in.
(It was also lovely and warm in contrast to outside!).

We called into the Centre around lunchtime on 30th March. Lady on her computer inside the entrance just glanced at us and returned to her computer. Two ladies at the end of the room didn't even raise their heads. I had a browse through the pamphlets, purchased a magnet and departed. Maybe they were scared of our Covid masks?

Despite arriving in the first wave of the pandemic the staff here were very helpful. I always go to the visitor centre to orientate myself and then ask them to make my bookings for me - a one stop shop. Here the staff were knowlegable and helpful.

Staff were helpful, providing historical as well as up to date information. We knew about the free bus before we left NSW, but were able to pick up the timetable to carry around with us. The free bus is handy as you have to pay for parking in the CBD. The bus stops at all the free venues, like the museum, library, parks and the waterfront. The free bus doesn't go to the Cataract gorge entrance but is only a ten minute walk from the nearest stop at Kings Park.

Really helpful assistance received here. Individual took time to understand our interests and suggest options including advising against things which would be too difficult to achieve in the time frames. I will write more on Cataract Gorge, Christmas Hill and Alum Cliffs but if you are in Launceston, start with the excitement Information office.

The day we arrived we wanted to visit Cradle Mountain, unfortunately some of the roads were closed. They showed us different roads we could take and guides us to restaurants and places to see if we could not get to our destination. It was very useful as all the roads were closed to Cradle mountain :(

Maybe it was because of fewer visitors, but I found staff weren't trying to help mask-wearing customers/visitors find places/activities in and around Launceston. Forget it if you want information about places further away. As for the souvenir fluffy toys, all that I checked were "Made in China". Sorry, no present is better than those imports!

Thank you for sharing your review of our centre Susan, we are always keen to receive feedback so we can improve our service. You are correct that the small range of plush toys we have for sale are sourced from overseas. We do however offset this, by having the majority (90%) of our products in our retail section sourced from our local makers and artisans. We also stock alongside the plush toys, Tasmanian Devils and Platypus that are created by Envirowoolly. These soft animals are made from recycled waste wool product and handmade by supported Tasmanian employees. We are so proud to support this initiative and they certainly do make great presents. Thank you again for your time.

M y wife and I are coming to Tasmania in early May and intend to stay and travel in the Northern part of the state. We hope to stay for a fortnight and will travel from the west coast through to Cradle Mountain to the east coast. We are after ideas for self catering accommodation and what the best attractions are. We have never visited or stayed in the west and are looking for all options. We are both reasonably fit and don't mind short hikes.

Ian Brauer
