Although only small The Design Centre showcases the best of Tasmania. The current display of Hydrowood features pieces crafted from wood submerged for years under the lake created by the Pieman dam. The shop within the Centre has the best selection of Tasmanian crafts I've...More

If you like wood have a look if only at the gift shop some of the pieces are truly amazing. Some of the finest craftsmanship you will see by both sexes.

Of all the places we have seen in Tasmania the Design Centre in Launceston has the most original timber, jewellery and dress designs and craftsmanship. It is a not-to-be-missed destination.

Fairly cheap entrance fee for this small exhibition space. Some really great, contemporary pieces. Worth a short visit.

The exhibit area is quite small and only takes about 10 minutes to view. It does have some very interesting design items in a variety of art media. The items in the store are also very nice though a bit pricey.

The Design Centre is a small gallery with an adjacent retail outlet (Spotted Quoll). Entry is $6 (Adult) to the Design Centre. Well worth a visit. It is not expansive but it celebrates and showcases local (Tasmanian) and Australian design in jewellery, fashion, furniture etc....More
