This is our 2nd visit here 1st with the kids apart from no where inside to grab a "quick bite" and nothing to do for our excited 3 year old apart from a $15 boat ride and $10 to walk on some sand and rocks this place is great for ice cream haha . Our 9 year old enjoyed the ziplining and quick jump but for the price paid it's just not justified. $30 to take my 3 year old on a 10 minute boat ride to keep him busy so he's sister could enjoy her day is absurd.

We're sorry you didn't enjoy the park this visit. We do have the restaurant which is open all day. And we do have multi-adventure passes for $39 that provide access to many of the adventures at a discount.
While it sounds like your 9 year old may have taken advantage of the Cliff Pass (which includes multiple zip lines, the quick jump, the cliff walk and rock climbing), we also have a Park Pass for younger visitors at the same price that includes the Dark Ride, the cliff walk, the Brig Tamar Cruise, the Gold Mine & the Barefoot Sensation (though your 3 yr old would be too young for the cliff walk).

I booked in to stay here for several days with my wife, 15 & 10yo daughters. One of the staff members overheard me talking about the "adventure facilities." These include a large backyard pool with a high rise canoe "ship" and primary school fete level zip line with climbing tags ensconced in a suburban back yard. The prima donna staff then refused to feed my children food after which the snippity bee in his bonnet gentleman who serves the insipid daft beer slammed the door on me. The hotel wanted to charge a family from Qld money for donnas until I threatened them. I am well travelled domestically and internationally and this venue is THE WORST I have ever experienced without exception.

So this listing is only for the adventure activities. We are not associated with the hotel and the restaurants are separate.
That said, we're sorry you didn't find the adventures to your liking. The majority of visitors quite enjoy our zip lines and rock climbing.

Stayed at hotel showed up its in 2 sections I came straight to rooms but no staff up at rooms to help had to go back down the rd 200 meters so we rang reception got same reply I said I'm from hobart which ways down the rd after 4 attempts she finally said tur. Right hotel rooms are dark and old bathrooms are useless if I was staying with friends or family the toilets in with the shower useless like I said wifi is only 500 mb useless in today's usages.
Kitchen is nice and new stains on every floor couches old and stained or lossing color as I sit on my couch its such a way I look out the glass door and I'm looking at a white wall Everything looks closed their was a private function so couldn't get my kids a pizza
Carpark u have to pay for but no big fence or security.

Hello!
Unfortunately you've left a review for the hotel on our listing for the Adventure Park. We are a completely separate business from the hotel with no affiliation (just sharing a similar name). The services for our listing are the cliff adventures and the park adventures.
The Tripadvisor listing for the hotel is at https://www.tripadvisor.com/Owners?detail=263390 under Leisure Inn Penny Royal Hotel & Apartments.
If you would remove your listing and apply to their listing, we would be super grateful as it impacts our rating.
For some reason, Tripadvisor won't move this review to the proper business and as you know, COVID has been super hard on everyone.
We haven't yet reopened from the COVID shutdown (though we are working hard on renovations and refurbishments and hope to reopen soon) and a negative rating that we haven't earned really hurts at this time.
We are sorry you had a bad experience!!!
Cheers!

I’ve been to Penny Royal over the years a couple of times but not for a while so it was nice to return to experience something different in addition to the dark boat ride that always a favourite of mine.
The dark ride takes about 15 minutes round trip under Penny Royal Adventures and shows some of the convict history highlights of Tasmanias past including holograms, waterfalls & sound and lights.
After this we did something I’ve never done there - cliff walking with harness and wires. What a view. From the top you can see all over Launceston and we were blessed with a gorgeous sunny winter’s afternoon. The total walk around took us about 20 minutes and some parts you had to walk right over a suspension bridge high above the park and it was exhilarating and I would definitely do it again when I’m back in Launceston as I’ve been to Tasmania many a time over the years.
It’s also very reasonably priced and the staff take you through all the required safet precautions and hints and we felt extremely safe and secure from the top.

Visited today with my husband. I would probably say that this attraction is probably better visited with children rather than retirees such as ourselves.
The brig Tamar boat ride was very entertaining.
The captain of the brig made the ride great and he made everyone feel welcome. The dark ride was also entertaining it’s the young attendant very friendly.
The young lady in the ticket office was also extremely welcoming, friendly and helpfull

My wife and son did the zip lining which they both immensely enjoyed. We also did the panning for gold and the convict boat experience. Although these experiences were enjoyable we didn’t feel that they were as good of value for money when compared to the zip lining experience.

Thank you for adventuring with us, David. Glad you enjoyed our zip lining! We do try to keep the pricing reasonable at $10 for our Brig Tamar experience with our Captain and $10 for our gold panning. We are a bit hamstrung there as the experience is a bit reduced without pans (which we were required to remove by WorkSafe). Sorry it didn't measure up for you!

Zip lines were fun. We went off peak which was nice as there was no waiting or queues. The leap is a challenge. Leap of faith! Ice cream cafe has good coffee and yummy Soft serve berry cones.

My husband and I went to the Penny Royal attraction in March while in Launceston. What a great set up? There is something for everyone and all ages. They have adventures and rides, restaurant and cafe, a wine bar and cellar door. We thought the whole place looked amazing but the day we visited it was very quiet so we didnt get to see a lot of the activities in use. When they reopen I recommend a visit.

Was a feta and fun afternoon for the family. Easily spent a couple of hours here enjoying history through amusement and attraction rides. Best to check out the website first and book the activities you’d like to do just in case they book out on the day

Such a fun family activity when visiting Launceston. Great cliff walk & flying foxes. Right next to access to Cataract Gorge to complete the adventuring. Highly recommend these activities to young families.

We are in Launceston for a couple of days and my adventurous 16 year old is getting itchy feet. Ideally he wants to do treetops, but being the only adventure junkie in our group, he isn't keen to do the few hours on his own. I'm wondering if this is suitable for a 16 yr old, or if it is more suitable for younger kids?

I would say for younger kids

Is this fun for young adults? I am in the area, am looking for something to do and am 20 years old. Would this be worth my money ?

Ashleigh you can always go in and check out the prices and see everything, to make your decision. You can walk around the whole thing without having to pay entry, and then decide what you want to go on.
Is there wheelchair access to penny royals adventures

There is a lift they use from the carpark which a wheelchair could use to get into the park. When you get inside though, i cant exactly remember if there are ramps to all areas, but you definitely cant get a wheelchair up to the point where the free fall jump is, nor could you get to the rock climbing wall, or along the rock faclatforms for the zip line.

Depending on the disability and age... I think you could get around if you could use a walking stick at times
As I did.
