Centenary Tower is a short (ish), uphill walk once your park at the Lions Lookout. Great views from the top await

Great Views
Jun 2021
A bit of a hike up a steepish bitumen road but offers great views of Mt Gambier and its lakes as well as south towards the coast. The highest point in Mt Gambier. If you're fit enough it is well worth the walk.

Tower at Top

Plenty of exercise to get to the Tower. Park at the car park about 400m below and walk up the steep road to get to it. There is a wonderful 360 degree view across the whole of Mount Gambier.

Centenary Tower overlooking Mount Gambier and Valley Lake below 🤩 No better way to view the area!

There are so many great walking tracks around the lake here in Mount Gambier and the view from the top of the hill here does not disappoint.

Please note that the walking track to the top of the tower from the carpark in only about 300m but it is STEEP!!! and car parking is limited so may require extra walking from a lower carpark.

Visited on Saturday 22nd February. We went to check out this landmark but when we got to the carpark it said the tower was closed so we didn't bother to walk up there.

Worth the walk
Mar 2020 • Couples
We first noticed this at night as it is lit at night and can bee seen from a great distance. It’s an easy drive to the the car park and then a steep (then steeper) walk up a bitumen path. (Nb there is a less strenuous alternate path but we opted for the direct route). The views from the top are well with the walk.

Steep climb but worth it. Full views of the surrounding area. If you want to be able to go into the tower make sure the flag is up, otherwise the Tower itself is closed. Not much of an extra view from the Tower though. $2 donation to get in
