Definitely worth the small drive to spend some tranquil time. While it is "small", the designers have done a magnificent job with 4 Japanese bridges, reflective ponds, and so many plants and paths to spend time. A definite must which many people may miss

Located in the University's grounds at the end of West Street just outside the CBD this garden is most certainly worth the trip. It is rightly renowned as one of Australia's most beautiful and mature Japanese gardens. Try to visit at a quiet time of day and your visit will be very tranquil. The bird life is also lovely.

This was a very pretty and extensive garden. There were so many photo opportunities. It was a place where you could wander and enjoy the views or stop and relax. We had no issue gaining a great parking spot and despite there being many people (Carnival of Flowers time), we were able to get stunning photos, just by being careful with the timing. We visited in the later afternoon and I would highly recommend a visit when in Toowoomba.

Toowoomba local so lucky enough to visit the Gardens regularly. They are beautiful in Spring when the flowering cherries blossom. But enjoyable no matter what the season. Donation boxes are at each gate. Plenty of parking in the USQ car park next door.

Came into the garden and turned left through an area that didn't seem very Japanese. Turned in to cross a drained "river" crossing stepping stones: still not hopeful. Then came down into the central lake area and it's beautiful! Traditional bridges, beautifully shaped pine trees, lovely plantings and ducks, ducks, ducks, lots of them!
There are turtles in the water too so look for them. The White Sacred Ibis have colonised the well trained and shaped pine on the Hermitage island in the middle of the lake leaving the mess that they do leave when they do that. But who doesn't love our Bin Chickens eh?
I'll bet there are eels too. And though I didn't see them, maybe some decent lizards.
Beautiful sunny late winter day in a pretty city. What a good item for your agenda! Go here to relax with a packed lunch maybe. Many of the students and staff did that too.
The water needs a flow through, I'm sure water is tight, the area around Toowoomba and on to Gatton looked very dry. Drier the further East I went so goodness knows what it looks like west of there. But the running water needs to happen or everything is going to get stagnant. The water is already but green.

Was very happy we decided to explore the Japanese gardens. Our young kids were excited to see all the different ducks lazing around. We even got to see little tortoise's sun bathing.
Even though most tree's weren't in flower yet it was still beautiful. Very pretty surroundings & a relaxing morning out with great photos opportunities. Plan on returning later in spring when everything's in bloom, it will be amazing. Great couple of hours for any age.
You can even take your own picnic & sit by the lake and relax in peace.

Quiet and peaceful gardens easily accessed within township. Very well maintained with toilet facilities available. (We even got to see a bush turkey making a huge nest right on a pathway,)

Best part was the RED entrance gates & Bridges. Ibis, wild ducks & Domestic Ducks are polluting the ponds, making it smelly. Brush Turkey's make walking the paths dangerous with the lItter they continually scratch out.

We have visited a number of Japanese gardens around the world and these are certainly up there. Obviously spring with flowers in bloom would be better but even mid June they were very enjoyable to wander around.
Well worth a visit.

Even though we were there in Autumn, the garden were still beautiful to look at and very well maintained. Search for the turtles sticking the head out of the walk or sunning in rocks. Lots of ducks - need signage to advise not to feed them bread.

They are coming out now. The Manchurian pears are all out now, looking beautiful. The cherry blossom is just starting to come out.

Spring‼️ Plan it right for the September event to also take in the Carnival of Flowers a 2 week event with open gardens in Toowoomba - many parks at their very best 💐 🌷🌹

Dogs on leads are welcome per signs at the entrances. I have taken my dogs there.
Just wondering how much would it coat to have a wedding ceremony at Japanese gardens....

Dont know, however, it is a FANTASTIC venue for a wedding. One of my friends got married there. Plenty of shady spots for the more elderly as well.
