- Sarah PBrisbane, Australia171 contributionsA Happy Hoppa FindWe wanted to go to HOTA (Home Of The Arts) and was looking at catching a bus when we saw a sign for the Hoppa and thought 'why not?' It's a family owned business and so you have to pay for the service (as we thought it might have come under our 'GO' card). I can't remember how much it cost but I don't mind so much, as it's a 'family' business. Everyone from the lady who sold us our tickets to the boat Captain/Tour Guide were very friendly. It was a lovely and different way to see the Gold Coast. We 'hopped' off at HOTA and returned to the pontoon afterwards, for our return trip back. It was very easy but can imagine it to get busy in peak times.Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a glowing review of your experience aboard Hopo Gold Coast Ferry. That is wonderful that you had a great time on the waterways as you travelled to HOTA, Home of the Arts. Thank you for supporting our family business. It means a lot! It's a great relaxed way to travel through the waterways and see some of our Coasts beautiful attractions. - Samara F1 contributionHOPO Ferry trial - $10 Sunday!HOPO have just started a trial of $10 Sunday for a return trip from Surfers Paradise to HOTA (Home Of The Arts) return, if you want to visit the markets and check out the gallery. Saves spending $45 for all 5 stops if you don't want to go to the other stops. There's plenty at HOTA, they also have cinemas and theatre, not just the gallery. Trial has just started today 8/9/24, so check it out if it suits!Visited September 2024Traveled soloWritten September 7, 2024

I just did the round trip on Hopo. What a wonderful trip! To see everything from the waterway was incredible and Captain Mark and Captain Kaylin were superb and so welcoming. I plan to do the hop on and off trip next time and you can buy a glass of wine, beer or soft drink on board should you wish to. I really cannot recommend this highly enough (excellent value for money) and wonderful for any age. Thank you so much 😊🙏

We embarked at HOTA for a return journey during a day out. It was a very pleasant experience and the Captain gave an informative history lesson along the way.
Great getting a different perspective of the Gold Coast from the water. The journey took about 1hour and forty mins.
We all enjoyed it and hope it continues.

Great outing and a fantastic way to explore the Gold Coast Broadwater. The service was excellent and punctual. I would like to commend Captain Peter, he was most welcoming, friendly and gave an excellent commentary. We really enjoyed our trip around the waterways.

A hidden gem that should now be more widely used.
Skipper Wayne was a very friendly and helpful crew person who delighted in sharing his local's knowledge.
The cost pp is a bargain; especially with their over 65s discount.
We paid for a loop ticket but the all day pass is also very good value.
4 hour free car parking is available at the HOTA stop; though in busy periods periods Mon-Fri who might have to use the paid parking area adjacent.
I am a keen photographer so I was also very pleased with the opportunity for some water based views. Snapping the TSS school boys out rowing and sailing in the late afternoon also gave me some pleasing images.
More visitors (and locals) should support this travel initiative.

What a wonderful and relaxing experience to sail through enjoying the sights and relaxing with a drink. We did the round trip which was about two hours. A great way to relax and bring family and friends. It was also very reasonably priced.

This is the next best thing to the light rail (tram) on the Gold Coast. It is reasonably priced and -and good to see the Gold Coast from the waterways. It is also one of the cheapest boat (Ferry) trips available and it is operated by the Gold Coast Ciy Council. For tourists ... this is it to see the Gold Coast. For the locals this is a good extension of the G:link tram to get places without the need to use your car. You have two options. Option 1) You purchase a "Dual Zone Return" and stay on the ferry. Good fun and a good opportunity to take some photos you would not be able to take from the shore. good 2 hour trip from the point you embarked the Ferry. Option 2) You purchase a Hop on Hop off day pass and go and see p[laces you would like to see. There are 5 points you can hop off so plan your day by getting the Hopo Hop on Hop Off Ferry plamphlet from your hotel or Information centres. The points to hop off are: a) Surfers Paradise. This is a short walk to Cavil Avenue and the beach; b) HOTA The Home Of The Arts. Containing cinemas and art gallery; c) Marina Mirage. Lots of interesting things such as the Versace hotel, SeaWorld, fish and chips shop and walk ways to the Broadwater.; d) Seaworld. If you did not want to do the short walk from the Marina Marige you are closer to SeaWorld at this stop. For the fit among you, you can venture walking to the Spit wich is the entrance to the ocean.; e) Broadwater Parklands. This is my favourite stop with walk ways and the famous rock water pools for the family and children alike. If you are keen for shopping you can go to the Southport shops and famous Australia Fair shopping center. There is also a 4 km walkway to Labrador where you can have a fish and chips at Charis Seafoods or drink in the local hotel and watch the pelicans being fed at 1:30 pm sharp. You have probably never seen so many "hungry" pelicans in the one spot! Why not make it a day trip and hop off at all stops and enjoy yourself and the family especially for a swim at the famous rock pools. Did you know that a developer wants to build a multi-level high rise in the park nearby and probably cast a good shadow over the rock pool and parkland? You may like to sign the partition at the local fish shop objecting to the developer getting Gold Coast City Council approval. A park is a park and not a residential area! Have a wonderful Ferry trip and a happy New Year enjoying TripAdvisor!
