We caught the train from Sydney central to Wollongong station. With a few minutes walk we were in the town centre. The center had everything you needed with great restaurants.

The Crown Central Shopping Centre is like trying to get around a Rats Maze. Buildings are linked by covered walkways which can be wide at one end then narrow at the other forcing everyone to bottleneck. People get confused by the escalators so they all try to use the minimum number of lifts. This causes extended lines of people trying to get in and out of lifts and the corridors. The food court in the new section has no seating that is suitable for wheelchair users. I will avoid this shopping centre in the future.

Took our extended family around here (visiting from Malaysia), and they actually preferred walking around Wollongong central and beaches compared to Sydney darling harbour! They found the atmosphere here a lot friendlier and laid back. It’s good to call Wollongong home!
