- Darrell P3 contributionsBig groupGroup of 20. Catch up from university 40yrs ago. Wine tasting to start. Food was excellent. All dishes were liked. Service very organised, efficient (especially for such a big table) and extremely friendly and engaging. Can certainly recommend for big group, but would go back without hesitation as a couple.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 21, 2023
- Hugary1Sydney, Australia8,715 contributionsPeterson HouseWe had been here 2 years earlier for a wedding and decided it might be a change at breakfast from the motel. Less expensive as well. We were a bit excessive having the Donut Pancakes and large coffees. But who counts calories when your on a weekend break. Pancakes are huge and great tasing as well as value for money. Coffee was very good and the lady serving was friendly and cheerful. Plenty of parking and excellent fascilities.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 19, 2023

- Peter WMorpeth, United Kingdom74 contributionsWine and Ice CreamWe booked in for a wine tasting and decided to have lunch prior to the tasting. The food was amazing. The waiting staff were very professional and polite, they are a credit to Peterson House. We then went to the wine tasting area and were pleasantly surprised that not only was there wine there was also ice cream tasting. The one thing that caught us all out was the coconut curry flavoured ice cream, we had it as banoffee as soon as we were told it was coconut curry the flavour was then obvious and it was very nice.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 2, 2024

As a long time fan of the hunter valley it was off to a disappointing start yesterday.
I expect things to be a little different under the current climate of Covid-19 and that’s all fine, but if certain things like decor and atmosphere need to be cut, then at least have the kind of customer service, table service, presentation and quality of food you expect with a premium restaurant at premium prices.
We received our appetiser of rock oysters before our drinks were served and we had barely started when our mains were rushed out. If the waiter can see you are still eating maybe hold off so I can swallow.
Considering the mains came so quickly it was disappointing that both dishes was cold and had a film so it was clear all the limited options of dinner were left out until ordered.
The bill was brought out the same time as dessert and we were in there for no longer than 40 minutes.
I felt very rushed, I understand that businesses want to serve as many people as possible, but I’m not paying $40 a main to be treated like I’m getting a take away at a kiosk.

We visited the cellar door on Sunday 15th March. There is a $5.00 tasting fee you pay before you start tasting but you receive $5.00 off your wine purchase. We started our tasting with our New Zealand friends to taste the wines. Our host "Shane" started to ask us questions on our preferred likeness. We were interrupted by the person next to us, so Shane rudely focused on them, totally ignoring us. He poured our first drink and abruptly left us without explanation. We looked over to him and he appeared to be doing some paperwork. We waited patiently and thought we might leave as this experience seemed hopeless. We then spoke to Kim and asked if she could take over our tasting and she happily obliged. She was amazing and gave us a wonderful experience, showing us a the great wines they have on offer. She was bright, happy and gave our New Zealand friends a very enjoyable time. Thank you so much Kim, because of you we made several purchases.

Haven't visited for ages but old experiences remembered rated the fizz as pretty good. Well, times have changed. Cannot fault the service from both Sally and Cherine. The emphasis seemed to be away from traditional 'methode champenoise' to a fruit driven prosecco type of wine. To me the MC process is sacrosanct and plonking the wine in a steel vat and adding CO2 just doesn’t cut it. Oh well, that's the way it's going. The 2017 Chardonnay Pinot Noir was a good effort although the 2019 Chardonnay was definitely second place to it. The Prosecco....let's just say I don’t understand Prosecco and especially when it's priced over and above the MC wines. Meeting market demand of course.....Of the others listed, I didn’t try the sparkling rose (3 of them) but did taste the 2014 Cab Franc. MC of course and not a bad red sparkler. The venue has not changed much but now concentrates on gatherings, weddings etc. As I said, I could not fault the excellent friendly service....and as for the wine, well times have changed of course.

Went to Peterson House with my wife and her sister. Did the sparkling wine tasting and were attended by an older lady. Once she had pour our glasses she started waving her hands and told my wife's sister to get out. We did not understand what was happening and looked confused. She then proceeding in telling us to drink the wine and get out. Before entering we were talking about buying a bottle. We ended up leaving empty handed after paying the $5 fee.

Dear noob1985,
Thank you for taking the time to review Peterson House, it seems strange that you waited for 11 months to do so, at Peterson House the only reason we have ever asked anyone to leave is due to intoxication ( we are not suggesting this was the case). Our staff see hundreds of people each week and we have never received this kind of feedback before. We are sorry that you did not enjoy your experience.
Kind Regards

The Peterson name features high in New South Wales tourism and we have given them our fair share of business over the years, including accommodation, meals, wine and gift shop visits/online purchases and wine club. I believe various owners may now be involved in the various properties. I want to be a positive supporter to every aspect yet I am confused by the ups and downs of service. I love the wine product and the merchandise, though can’t forgive them for substituting the lovely leather wine bag with the pleather one. Service from the online shop is great. I have previously reviewed the Armidale accom., with highs for the product and lows for service. Today we came, once again for breakfast. We always like to finish our HV stay with a Peterson’s breakfast. On entering you are blown away by the minimalist ambiance. I know it is Covid times, but it was like entering a pub dining room after the night before. The breakfast menu, whilst satisfying those with a hot brekky appetite, provided virtually nothing for someone looking for fruit, yoghurt or even just bakery and condiments. The whole experience was over quickly which made for an earlier than expected ride home. Like I said, I want to love it, but may need to either lower expectations or just place on line orders only. Sorry guys, but you really need to put more effort into making a wonderful product special like it should be.

Unforgivable and utterly disgusting service for a wedding venue. We have had nothing but heart ache and trouble from this wedding venue who pulled TWO events from us after we booked them months prior, they just gave to someone else. NO care. NO customer service. Their wedding team are unavailable by phone. Take DAYS to return calls and emails (if they do at all, some calls were never retuned). To avoid the pain they have caused us, we recommend you put your faith in a different provider - someone who is able to provide genuine care and the kind of customer service one expects for the most important moments in your life. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Dear Anon,
Thank you for your review, the current Covid 19 crisis in NSW has caused the re-scheduling of all weddings in the coming months. In the process of the date changes we have tried to give each couple the date that best suits them, unfortunately with existing bookings and so many postponements the available dates are limited.
We are very sorry that the date you wanted was not available and we were also happy to provide you with a full refund as a result. Our team are doing there best in a very difficult trading environment, we wish you all the best with your future plans.
Kind Regards

The Peterson Sparkling House was a great last stop on our winery tour. The range is great, even for those that aren't necessarily sparkling fans. The venue is laid out very well, so you feel like you have your own space. Our tasting guide was well versed and very friendly.

Sparkling wine lovers heaven. Dedicated to sparkling wines Petersons is a great place to go. The displays when you walk in are cool and funky. $10 tasting gets you 5 choices - white, rose and red sparkling wines to choose from. We had a lovely guy called Zac who was very knowledgeable and made the tasting experience fun and enjoyable. Definitely a good stop on your Hunter Valley tasting tour

I have been to Peterson Champagne House for breakfast on numerous occasions. I can say they never disappoint. Staff are professional and friendly. The view is superb.
The corn fritters are like none I’ve ever tasted before. They are in no way doughy as you get so often at other places - in fact most places. Topped with the optional smoked salmon they are divine. My friends had the vegetarian breakfast which was also delicious. On previous occasions we have had the Bubbly Breakfast which was also absolutely beautiful. Would recommend to anyone heading to the valley. Worth a trip from Newcastle to have breakfast there.

Great wine tasting at Peterson House, $10 gives you 5 bubblies to try, and they are flexible enough to add a couple I was interested in, so thank you. Great service and setting, with a beautiful chapel on the grounds.

Hi there!
We are travelling to Hunter Valley in 2 weeks and saw your Winery. We'd like to know if you are open to visitors in the last week of Nov, do you open between 1-4pm and are there any tours that we would have to book in advance? Thanks!
