With our group of 6 from Tamworth & Perth, we had a late morning fascinating wine tasting experience with the wonderful & knowledgeable Anne at Hope Estate, she then booked us a table for lunch at the Blaxland Inn, the Hunter Valley Steakhouse a Restaurant directly across the road from the winery, great morning, great day.

The show was great and the venue is nice (when clear skies) but:
Hope Estate has spent 0 dollars on infrastructure.... Traffic chaos, parking chaos, hour long queues for any food stall (even 2.5 hours before the show!), Staff show 0 interest and have not been trained. When we finally cornered one, they showed us to the wrong seat (saw this happen to others as well). $200+ for a plastic chair in field and they confiscate people's snacks at the door. Meals are around $18 for the usual truck muck. Chaos exiting, old folk slipping down hills, people stepping through creeks etc. Roads can't cope with that number of people / vehicles.
Keep hoping Hope Estate will reinvest some of the money the squeeze out of everyone and provide a proper venue.

Having read some of the negative reviews we had some concerns. However with a little planning it can be a great experience. We parked nearby rather than in the car park which made for an easy exit. That said, from what we could see there were numerous paddocks open for parking and it didn't look much worse at exit time than the SCG.
There were plenty of food choice with reasonable queues, toilets were OK and the general lawn area was a great spot to sit and enjoy the show. Speaking to others who'd purchased the hamper indicated the service was quick and hassle free The $5 deposit on the wine bottles was annoying as there were limited options to get the $5 back if you wanted to drink slowly; we saw a lot of wine bottles left lying around at the end of the show...
It is a great outdoor location and the outdoor atmosphere is unique and can't be beaten especially with a great band like the Killers!

Went to Hope Estate to try some of their wine.
Were were waiting for a little while as there were a few blokes in front of us.
No worries ! We grabbed a list as we were looking to taste some Whites and then some Reds. When the lady said it’s $20 per person for6 wines we bulked a bit and then she said the $20 dollars if you then buy 3 bottles or more.
I thought that was a bit steep as we had just been across the road at Lisa Mcguigans cellar door and didn’t have an appointment and were welcomed in with no charge and no bother. We spent $230:00 dollars there good wine and pleasant staff.
The staff at Hope estate could take some lessons that’s for sure.
Bottom line I’d after a short conversation with the lady at Hope Estate which was borderline rude we took our money and left and then went to the Mcguigan cellar door at Tempus two and spent another few hundred dollars, again good wine but a super friendly staff member who said she had been in the business for 25 years on and off.
If you have a bad attitude towards customers then you’re going to cost a business money. The guys at Lisa Mcguigans were friendly as was the lady at the other Mcguigans cellar door and they knew there products and made the customer feel welcomed and then proceeded to educate us on their products. No hogwash cover charge and we spent our hard earned because of the wine and customer service.
Hope Estate needs a lot of polish because they have gone to great lengths to make up for there wine buy doing Gin and Beer tastings. But all they need to do is get rid of the ridiculous surcharge and give better customer service.

I recently purchased tickets to see the killers at hope estate which I have been looking forward to for months.
Unfortunately a few days before the event I tested positive for covid-19, cough, running noes, sore throat, the whole lot
Upon contacting Hope to request a refund due to having to issolate (as I am symptomatic and a front line health worker) I was told a simple " unlikely and I should contact ticket master"(where I purchased the tickets.
Now after "reviewing" my request it was declined with ticket master stating "Ticketmaster acts as the agent to those who are promoting or otherwise providing the events and therefore are not obliged to issue refunds due to the event holders cancellation policy"
So I'm assuming hope estate are going against nsw health recommended isolation procedures and expect me to either go to the concert, risking posible large scale spread of the covid-19 virus, or just throw away $400.
Just another case of hope estate caring more about the money than the safety and well-being of its patrons

Went to Gin & Jazz Festival 2022. Easy to park. Hubby did the helicopter flight photo attached. Hired staff manning the kiosks were great.
Wanted to ask manager about “Plan B” busses back to Cessnock. They don’t have them but they gave me a helpful tip about a cab - we booked a maxi taxi whilst out there for a good price.
Jazz was great. Often Jazz interpretations of modern well known songs and chart hits. Fab way to support live music.
Home by 6. Good easy day!

My understanding that concerts have been staged here for the last 15 years. Our transport driver wasn't very flattering about the owners of the estate and the value they offer. Not sure if this is isolated. We thoroughly enjoyed the concert but ensured that we ate well at lunch. Regrettably like most of these sorts of venues the food from vendors is sadly lacking in quality and generally the pricing reflects the the fact that they have a captured crowd. Wine pricing by the bottle was around $40 with a $5 cash back when returning the bottle. It didn't seem to be widely advised that they would no longer sell bottled wine after 7pm so post the event the grounds were littered with empty wine bottles. I think the owners made a considerable profit on the $5 cash backs that weren't collected. I may be optimistic but am hoping perhaps that they mad a reasonable donation to the current bush fire appeals as a result.
We generally felt that the organisation of getting into and out of the event was good and certainly there appeared to be ample facilities in place. We were lucky that the day of our concert the weather was cool but could imagine that on a really hot day it could be quite an unpleasant experience. Especially given that there is no way of providing any shade in the open areas. Always a big job in an outdoor venue providing for large crowds. keep that in mind when booking concerts in outdoor venues.

Fabulous concert and a lovely venue, however the dictatorship of what was ans wasn't allowed was dreadful. Very lucky I purchased an actual seat as cushions with backs weren't allowed nor beach chair. Had a token for a wine bottle purchase which had to be brought by 7pm and prices were ridiculous!!! Food queues weren't too bad and there was plenty of variety to choose from again prices were expensive. I wont ever go back to a concert at Hooe estate due to the way management treat their "guests" they choose to put money ahead of anything. Which is disappointing as it is a beautiful venue.

We had booked a beer tasting paddle which is always a bit of fun. There was a mass of people not really socially distancing and it seemed understaffed. Big groups coming in at the same time, people not checking in meant we did not feel at ease around the entrance or bar.
We enjoyed sitting outside around a wine barrel tasting our beers and wine in the sun. Like I said, we do enjoy our visits at Hope but this time around under covid restrictions, they just didn't seem to be as up to par as the other venues we visited. The staff were doing their best but with the numbers of patrons coming in, they were well and truly outnumbered.

Great concert, incompetent venue. Had to wait by the gate for 15 min on arriving as they ran out of wristbands to access the seated area, ended up giving up and so did the staff checking on entry. Seats were so tightly ziptied together that they were only spacious enough for kids to sit comfortably. They told us to bring bottles of wine back before the bar closed for a refund, then when we did we were told that the refunds stopped after 8:00pm. So many restrictions that people obviously got into the pre drinks as the path in from the carpark was absolutely covered in empty bottles/cans, and so was the rest of venue due to a complete lack of bins anywhere. We will never return to this venue, should rename it Hopeless Estate! Cold Chisel were excellent and deserve way better than this rubbish, so happy we chose to go to Sydney to see Elton John.

Hey lleo21
Just wondering if you bought tickets through hope estate? Im looking at tickets for Elton John and on their packages it says ground floor terrace but I am confused as to where this might be in relation to the stage?
Thanks!
Written November 25, 2019
Hi
Have been to Hope Estate for a few concerts ( Tim McGraw, Tina Turner, Powder Finger but only General admin) and believe the ground floor terrace is as it sounds, It is positioned up the top of the hill, 100m from where they usual build the stage, so you are at the back but have cover and the private bar, they always have screens both sides of the stage. Ring Hope estate and ask for a detailed site layout as Elton John is one of the big celbs and things maybe built to accommodate the bigger crowds?
Cheers
PS Book ahead as the good close wineries fill up quick and its easier to walk back to accommodation as parking is terrible to get out after concert.

Is the amphitheater flat or is there a bit of a slope/rise? I would assume since it’s called an amphitheater it would be raised but the photos I could find looked pretty flat... thanks!
Written June 26, 2019
There is a gentle slope to the bandstand. It looked like an excellent venue for an outdoor concert. Parking for big events might get interesting, but they have done this for many big name performers, so no shortage of experience in dealing with crowds.

Where's the best spot to buy tickets for a concert??? How far away are is the green noled area.... want to sit and relax...eat...drink...have a dance but also dont want to watch
ants performing???
Written November 22, 2018
Contact either Hope or the company providing the concert. I too have only been there to try/buy wine, never for a concert.
Written November 24, 2018
What is the capacity of the concert venue
Written October 25, 2016
It is actually an open air concert venue, so with the grounds available, and dependent on how they configure the venue, you would expect at least 5000.
Written October 26, 2016
We are planning to get tickets for James Taylor in February. Having never been to the venue before, could you tell me if it is indoor or outdoor and if there is allocated seating? Thankyou.
Written October 20, 2016
It's an outdoor venue, and often there is some allocated seating up the front for certain ticket holders, while the rest of the visitors will set themselves up on the surrounding lawn. It's a very relaxed atmosphere.

hi, planning visit on Dec 5 and see that elton john performs. help me incorporate that into my plans for three adults. want to reserve 3 for great cask hall dinner with platinum tickets. are tickets still available?
need transportation from sydney to arrive at Hope around 2pm and return to sydney dec 6 mid-day.
would like to spend night and return sydney on dec 6; recommend possible accommodations
best, charles.
Written October 31, 2015
Hello Charles,
The best way to get answers on ticket availability for dinner packages is to call our hotline 1800 777 444. If calling from overseas you can reach the office on +612 4993 3555.
In regards to transfers from Sydney, one option to look at is Zepher tours. Search for zephertours in australia for their website. Unfortunately I cannot post a link on TripAdvisor.
Accommodation can best be found through TripAdvisor & booking . com. Keep in mind the Hunter Valley is very busy this time of year and there maybe limited accommodation available close to Hope Estate.
All the Best!

Why is it that 4 pm is the start time advertised for Fleetwood Mac concert start and yet special concert busses delivery people there arrive there between 4 and 6-30 pm. What is the actual start time ???
Written September 11, 2015
Hello, Thank you for your query.
The advertised time of 4pm is the gate opening time.
The gate opening time, as well as when the support and main acts appear on stage is all determined by the Promoter and not controlled by Hope Estate. The times acts are performing are stated on the Ticketmaster website, these times are approximate and subject to change.
We hope this helps.
Kind Regards, The Hope Estate Team
