Nice open space and green lawns with water feature! Only a small area, but close to town so a good spot to walk around and relax. Has incorporated the old train sheds into picnic tables and the end of the lines a community garden. Provides walking access back into town, along the foreshore and over to the Nobby's. Good spot... Wide beautifully grassed areas and good amenities are the highlights of this large park. There is also the old train sheds that have been converted into picnic tables for when the weather isn't so nice.

Ideal place for families and your daily picnic by the foreshore. A place that is large and has footpaths for both bikes, walking and skating. The place seems to be family friendly with young families out enjoying time together.

An interesting picnic area off Wharf Road - just across from Nobbys Beach & the Harbour . It has well kept lawns, a small lake, some shelter & a children's play ground. There is car parking & a short walk from buses. There are good walks through the park & along the foreshore through to Nobbys where there is a... More

Easy flat walk with good foreshore views. Park at the Nobby's beach end if you want to avoid parking fees.

The foreshore park is on the harbour side of Newcastle and is a great area for a picnic, with a park for the kids (we've always called it "the train park" as it has a play train to link in with the parks original use as a train yard). This is also a great stop if you are bike riding... More

After enjoying a coffee nearby, strolled down to the Foreshore and spent a bit of time in the kids play area. Clean toilet facilities and covered BBQ area noted. If we had been better organised we could have enjoyed a nice picnic at this area
