We loved these caves. My kids (primary ages) loved exploring and discovering the different rock formations and types of minerals to read about. Great historical info along the way if you do self guided. Not a hard walk so good for kids.

Absolutely stunning cave. It’s a self guided tour. We went during the week and was very fortunate to have the whole cave to ourselves. Much nicer and less crowded and a lot cheaper than Janolan caves

Kids had a ball climbing on everything & leaving no stone unturned. Easy drive from Bathurst just over forty minutes and we were there. Family of four cost us $38 dollars. There was even a swimming hole for the kids.

My trip to Abercrombie Caves was early morning on a working day and not during school holidays so it was extremely quiet. The tracks are mainly wide and well looked after so there's no chance of getting lost as long as you stay on the...More

We loved roaming around this old mansion. The lady who lives there was very helpful explaining what they are doing to restore it to its former glory. 5 or 6 gorgeous peacocks live there which is fun.

Although not as spectacular as some caves that we have visited they are still well worth a visit. The original dance floor (1880's) which is still in pristine condition in the cave, is an unusual feature of this cave system. The bush ranger cave tour...More

Definitely no dogs allowed at the caves. There is free camping at Macquarie Woods which is half way between Bathurst and Orange. You can take long walks around the pine forest with lovely views.
