It's 5km from the visitors centre, and then it's about another 1 to 1.5km to the water. I thought it would be a good idea to walk the whole distance, so I was pretty tired by the time I got back to town. There is parking at the entrance though & the road is pretty empty. It's pleasant enough, very quiet and you'll likely see no one else around for the whole time you're there. It's not signposted, but if you walk straight ahead you'll reach a small creek and a nice table to rest on. I did see a toilet off in the distance on a side track, but don't count on it.

My wife and I love this place. It brings us peace and is a romantic place for a picnic. We do a walk out here at least twice a week together. Our special place where we can relax..we feel lucky to have it at our door-step.

We came here on a mountain bike holiday and were so impressed with the tracks here. Well maintained and such a variety I could highly recommend giving it a go!!! We will definitely be back!!

We went there to go for a walk and found it pretty average, had trouble finding the place to start off with as there is also another picnic area which looks a bit run down close by. Would be great for mountain bike riders as it has all the tracks marked out. Would also be a good place to walk your dog. No picnic tables from what we could see or toilets.
