This area highlights the river vegetation of this region. Numerous clearly signposted tracks with well positioned bird hides make it well worth the short drive out of Albury.

This natural experience is a great credit to the City of Albury. An indigenous heritage experience as well as a choice of pleasant walks though natural bushland and Murray River billabongs to observe a myriad of native birdlife. An educational experience you can enjoy with kids and also suitable for seniors with its flat terrain and well graded tracks which are suitable for wheelchair access. Many shaded and grassed areas to have a picnic in seclusion. No dogs or bikes allowed.

Recently took our young people of varying ages here and spent 2 hours walking around , going into the bird watching shelters and enjoying the calmness of the environment including a kangaroo mob bouncing across the open areas.

We went just after rain and it was great. There are plenty of marsh birds to see and the hide is great. Get in there around early sunrise/set. Easy tracks to walk but take mozzie repellent if you going there at dusk. Parking is good and there is toilets at car park, next to old station house. Indigenous bark huts could do with some maintenance.

Wonga Wetlands on the Murray River close to Albury offers some bird watching and bush walking on 80 hectares of floodplain. However it is well used by large young school groups who learn about riverine and wetland ecosystems and they can take over the experience. The `preserved' settler house there is more a set piece than indicative but a pleasant riverside walk.
