An enormous body of water, five times the capacity of Sydney Harbour when full. Currently at 55%, with a wet winter underway. It will fill from snow melt when winter becomes warmer. The Hume Dam (or 'Weir') was a huge engineering success and provides a continuously flowing Murray River and water supply to huge areas of inland Australia. It is... More

The Hume Weir is a sight to behold. 50% full at the moment. The dam wall display area is being improved and we were very taken with the plaques telling of the history of the dam. Watching the water shoot out of the outlet below the dam wall is magic. Easy walk along the dam wall to see the splendor... More

I didn't expect to be wowed by this but there was just something about the size of the lake and the force of the water going through. It was a rainy day we had our umbrella and that didn't stop us from exploring. Must see if in Albury it's a lovely drive there too on windy roads. Picnic tables as... More

Went to see the Hume dam. Very interesting and a nice walk along the dam. There was even snow in the mountains.

Loved the view, nice wall, almost got scared of heights even though I was technically on the ground which confused me greatly however, 10/10 as far as a lake goes, and I know my lakes, trust me

The Barry Ferguson Classic car rally was beginning from Lake Hume Resort and we overnighted there prior to the start of the rally. We found the accommodation quite comfortable and the food on the Thursday night was really good. There was only four of us in the dining room. Friday night was different. The small number of tables [there was... More

Heat spot for a picnic lunch and for family get together. Nice views over the dam on both sides of the dam wall. Would be terriffic on a hot day swimming and water sports.

An interesting 11 kilometre drive from Albury which can be done as a round trip returning through Wodonga passing the Bonegilla Migration camp. Plenty of picnic areas and interesting views of the dam and river from the wall. You can cycle on the made paths.
