Walked from the car park at The Divide to Key Summit in late May. Started at 2pm after a morning cruise at Milford and some stops at The Chasm and Pop's View point earlier. Ended on the dot at 5pm, as stated on the maps, and we're not particularly fast hikers. It was drizzly and overcast when we started, but... More

Only did a day trip but decided to walk to the Falls but as the weather seemed to be holding out we continued on to the Harris Saddle for about 50 minutes until the clouds descended upon the valley and it became drizzly and somewhat misty and difficult to actually take in the splendor. At this point, we realized it... More

I am a local to the south of the south island and the routeburn is my favourite tramping track. the whole second day is spent on the alpine tops and the views are amazing. Make sure that you have a clear day 2 on this tramp.

A lovely walk - did 4hours of it which was not too challenging. Beautiful views and many other walkers to greet on the way!

This track (trail for us Americans) is pretty and all that. The part from Glenorchy though, if you want to do a day trip, is full of forest-walking and swing bridges, but it doesn't have a lot of views. Better do the whole thing or start from the other end.

to the Routeburn Track even if you are only going to do the short Nature Walk. The Nature Walk track, via a suspension bridge, through the magnificent native southern beech forests is awe inspiring, well maintained and a moderately fit person will find it easy. There are toilets at the start of the walk and interesting information boards, as well... More

Certainly one of the best trail in New Zealand, but it's way more enjoyable if the weather is good, or at least fine. Had 2 days of rain on 3 days of walking, so because of the clouds you miss lots of lovely views. Autumn may not be the best season to do this one. But still really pleasant !

We've just finished our Routeburn track walk, a couple of days before the great walk season closed in late April. We were a little worried about the weather, but it turned out to be sunny and warm, with no wind. The weather forecast on Metservice was quite inaccurate - probably because Routeburn Track covers Fiordland and Mt Aspiring National Park.... More

this track is definitely worth going, and the best part is at the second day, between Mackenzie hut and Falls hut. so one day tramp at either end cannot fully explore the beauty of this track. If you will be stay in Falls hut, make a 5 mins side trip to Flats hut near the east end of the track,... More

3 of us day trecked each end of the Routeburn visiting a number of huts before back-tracking the way we had come. The weather was magnificent, but the views were outstanding. The rangers at the huts were very helpful and informative, even though we werent staying. Would love to do it start to end.
