Doubtful sound is a lesser visited and well known Cousin compared to the Milford sound but don't underestimate the grandeur and quietness of this place. This is one of the most untouched areas of the Fiordland and the quietness and calm surrounds you through the cruise (we did it with Go Orange which was great). It is also much larger... More

Beautiful even when we went on a completely stormy day, not a single piece of blue in the sky but temporary waterfalls everywhere the eye could see (not that there was great visibility). We did the 3 hour tour and the only complaint is that the web site said it was a 3 hour tour but it takes about two... More

We did the Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound & Glow Worm tours, all from Te Anau - and this was definitely our favourite. While both fjords are spectacular, the Doubtful Sound tour is much quieter & more relaxed than tours of Milford, and you spend more time on a boat rather than in a bus.

We did a day tour of this truly majestic place. I doubt(hurhur) there is any other place like this anywhere. Dress warm and waterproof if you want some really nice photos.

We travelled from Te Anau to Doubtful Sound with Real Journeys. What a professional outfit! Bus drivers, skippers and all staff were very friendly. Commentaries on the bus and the boat were very informative. The real hero was of course Doubtful Sound. Amazing and awesome cannot begin to describe this place. Best part was when the motor was switched off... More

We drive from Te Anau to Manapouri. We parked car there and left our luggages in the car as well. It is safe there. We start tour with bus ride over Wilmot Pass. A lot people like Kayaking and even take 15 minutes swimming. Dinner and breakfast is wonderful, so much food. The views during sunset and sunrise period are... More

We got back today from the overnight cruise around Doubtful Sound on the Fiordland Navigator run by Real Journeys. It was truly an experience of a lifetime. First you are picked up by coach at the company's office in the centre of town and taken for a half-hour drive to the edge of the biggest lake in New Zealand and... More

This is a must do if you can swing it. I decided to go with Real Journeys because they have been at it the longest and it was considerably more affordable for me as a solo traveller with the quad share. It was a bigger group than I would have preferred, but I will say they had plenty of staff... More
