100% recommend forking out for this. The company and cruise its self were first class. We travelled by boat down manapouri lake with a funny and informative guide, then a coach with yet again another fantastic guide. The views on both were amazing. The actual navigator cruise ship is beautiful. We had muffins and coffee then a soup dish which... More

We booked a day tour with Real Journey's months in advance to see Doubtful Sound. The overnight trip offered seemed to be too expensive, and after spending a long day just to travel for three hours on the sound, we were glad that we just did the day tour. It was a lot of traveling in one day, but adding... More

Our tour of Doubtful Sound with Go Orange was the highlight of our trip to NZ. Our full day tour was fantastic from the moment we were picked up at our motel until we returned. Doubtful Sound would have to be one of the most stunning places in NZ. Cannot recommend this day trip highly enough. The sounds itself is... More

Entails a bit of traveling, 1)fast boat, 2) bus over pass, 3) even bigger fast boat. But it is all worth it, specially in good/dry weather. Food - packed lunches can be ordered before hand, only snacks on boat (free tea & coffee). Scenery is out of this world. If lucky seals and penguins can be seen at the fiord... More

Good experiences, and lot of fun when you join the overnight cruise at Doubtful Sound. Nice and well protected environment, experience the beautiful mountains and if you are lucky like our trip, you get to see whales, dolphin, penguins, seals, stars and beautiful rainbow. You will not regret...

We took an overnight cruise on this majestic sound and found it to be the equal of the best of Alaska, British Columbia or Norway. It's much less travelled than the more accessible Milford Sound to its north and in our book fewer gawking tourists is a huge plus. It's also hard to imagine anything prettier.

we travelled to doubtful sound with Real Journeys, the highlight of my time in New Zealand. We experienced every thing from rain, snow, wind and sun. The staff could not have been any nicer and so knowledgable, witty and informative. It starts with a boat trip up Lake Manapouri, then a coach trip over Wilmot pass, then on to the... More

We went in the wettest weather possible. There were many reviews that said Doubtful comes alive in heavy rains with waterfalls et al. No doubt, and some were truly spectacular but then there is nothing else to see as it is like traveling in a completely fogged up bay. Yes when the mountains come near you imagine how spectacular they... More

Did an overnight cruise with Deep Cove Charters. A short boat trip from Manapouri, then a drive over a mountain range saw us board the boat for what was an unforgettable trip. Greeted by Chris and Travis, we set sail and soon were having a beautiful crayfish salad for lunch. Did a bit of sight seeing, then some went kayaking... More
