There are a number of these Jet Boat rides available but most appear to just an exhilarating ride. Our guide, Hanson, provided us with lots of history about the area we sailed in and he also took us for a land walk explaining much about the indigenous fauna. We also raced a sea plane that had landed on the lake. We thought the whole experience was very good value for money and we would definitely recommend the services of Hanson and the team

As a family of two adults and two young girls we were in Te Anau primarily to visit Milford Sound. We had some spare time and wanted to do something else in the area. We choose FJ since it went through some of the Lord of the Rings locations and our girls were keen on the movies. Check in was easy with lots of parking around the back, it's a family owned and run operation and that is clear from the start. Getting geared up was simple and then we were on the bus for a short trip to the river. You start to get a feel as to what you are about to experience when you first see the beautiful fast flowing river. Once your boat is launched and a quick safety briefing you are off down the river. Forests of Beech trees line both sides and you do indeed feel like you are in LOTR. Our driver was Rebecca who was excellent at answering all of our girls' questions as there were many, even the more involved LOTR ones. Stopping periodically to show various locations from the movies and explaining about the local environment was really interesting and made the experience much more than just the run and gun jetboat rides we experienced in Queenstown. There were lots of opportunities for photos and Rebecca always ensured everyone was comfortable even down to adjusting the temperature of the heated handrails (very appreciated). The locations you visit are stunning and you really get to take it all in with enough time to appreciate where you are and how beautiful it all is. You also get to go onto the lake shore and walk through the forest which is part of the Kepler track, great for the girls to have a go on the swing and explore through the forest looking for Orcs and Hobbits (they didn't find any). This is a great experience for anyone and everyone and Rebecca made it much more than just a jetboat ride. As this was the girls' first ride in a jetboat it set the standard high and they are still talking about it. On the drive back in the bus we were also given some great tips for our Milford trip and that worked out great too with lots less people by dodging the tourist buses. Highly recommended and great value, thanks again Rebecca!

This was one the unplanned booking we had, but it turned out to be THE BEST. My 3 year old was so happy, she said "one more time please..". The lady who took us to board the boat & the boatman, both made us comfortable, had thorough knowledge of the place (Drinking river water, amazing turns, shooting of LOTR, history) and more importantly they love what they do.. You can literally feel they are doing EVERYBIT they can to give an amazing time to everybody and thinking of everybody's safety all time. Got a complementary duck boat ride too!

Highly enjoyed our jetboat ride!
We had organised Fiordland Jet to pick us up from Moturau Hut, after 3 days & 3 nights tramping along the Kepler track we were exhausted & they were a very welcome sight. This meant we could skip the last 1.5 hours of the walk and instead have a fun ride back to town. Our driver was very entertaining & we enjoyed the thrill off the ride + all the information about the lake & track. If you are doing the Kepler track I would highly recommend a pick up from Moturau Hut with these guys, so much fun!!

Oh my goodness what an awesome time we had on the Fiordland Jet...there were 2 boats that went out at the same time so that was fun with a bit of banter between the drivers and lots of spins etc!! Lex was our driver, lots of experience and full of knowledge. Had a laugh or two with the guys, also got to go for a walk for a bit on the Kepler Track so means we got out of the boat for a while. The scenery was stunning and the day beautiful albeit it chilly but we were made comfortable and didn't even notice the cold.
Highly recommend this activity, Kiwi's support for these guys is imperative at present so glad to see we are getting out there for breaks away and supporting our tourism industry!!

A big thanks to the team at Fiordland Jet. Our family of 5 were treated to 2 hrs of fun and insightful commentary. My 15 yr old summed it up beautifully when he said, "best tour so far because our guide was really engaging." Not only were we thrilled by getting sprayed with water and doing 360 turns, the scenary is sublime. The bonus was the team at Fjet are mainly Kiwis so they were very knowledgable and friendly and weren't just doing a spiel for the 'tourists.'

Having experienced jet boating in 3 different locations in New Zealand I have to say this one was definitely the best. What I liked about it the most you got to experience the pristine wilderness of Fiordland National park without hoards of tourists as this is the only boat on the river.
Beccy our driver showed us the river with lots of thrills as well as being full of information .We capped off the experience by doing their Jetboat/Bike combo and cycled back along the river to Te Anau

Rebecca was an outstanding tour guide and boat driver. We learned about history and had fun sipping around in the jet boat. My son was a bit scared and Rebecca made him feel comfortable in the boat and he ended up saying it was the best part of the trip! The Lord of the Rings sites were super cool! High recommend this activity and this company!

First let me say, you will not be disappointed if you book with Foirdland Jet. Everyone was extremely nice and professional. They made our group feel like old friends. Abby took the time to braid my wife’s hair which was above and beyond regular customer service. Rebecca is a legend in Te Anau, being the youngest and safest driver on the river. She was knowledgeable about lake Manapouri and the history of New Zealand. Chris you should be proud of your team and give Rebecca a few days off every once in awhile. Thanks again for talking the girls into staying another day and booking your jet boat experience well worth it. Sincerely, Group From Colorado.

WOW, Thank You! Who knew Abby had other talents like hair braiding!! We try our best to go above and beyond and its so nice you recognized it! Rebecca is pretty incredible, and don't worry Chris gave her that well deserved time off ;). He is a pretty proud man, and we are all lucky employees!

We were so lucky to have Chris ( the owner) to take us on the jet. This jet experience was truly the highlight of the entire New Zealand trip, he took us to a short forest walk in the most magical place and it was breathtaking. Chris has such a pleasant and generous energy , it was worth every penny just listening to his commentary. He took care of our needs as big group with young kids and elderly, he truly care for the customers. We highly recommend anyone to do this, or you are missing out once a lifetime experience! Ps- I never leave review during holiday because I am too relax/ lazy but I make sure I jump on here because he deserve lots of amazing reviews! Thank you Chris for your time and loving energy, I won’t forget what you did for us for a very long time!
