Come join our team at Cowboys for a fun filled visit in our Cowboy themed bar. Show us your skills on the Mechanical Bull or have a game of Pool or Shuffle Board with friends and family. You will find yourself singing along to all your favourite 70’s, 80’s and 90’s hits with a few catchy current songs and of course a little bit of country thrown in. Karaoke is always a fond favourite with the locals on Sunday night with free spicy chicken wings after 9.00pm. We look forward to seeing you soon. Yee-haw!

- Serene CooperWellington, New Zealand2 contributionsHospitality!! 11/10The bouncer set the tone for our night with the best warm greeting, which was carried throughout any other staff member we met that night. Drinks were flowing, music was pumping. Sadly, we came to late to ride the Bull, but the Karaoke made up for it. The owner and her staff are just beautiful. They really made our lastnight in QT the best night in QT. #buckmegentlydarling..Visited August 2020Traveled with friendsWritten August 3, 2020
- Barbara EWaihola, New Zealand8 contributionsA fabulous fun filled night out in QueenstownThis was a "must visit" bar in Queenstown NZ. The staff are experienced, kind, courteous and pre-empted our needs all evening. Free pizza per group. Great atmosphere, super exciting activities including bucking bronco riding. We will be back next visit Cowboys. Impressed with staff wearing masks too.Visited October 2020Written November 27, 2020

Went with a group of work mates. We were not made to feel welcome by the staff who were rude and miserable. We went in there particularly to play on the shove ha'penny table but a large group of locals were on it for a couple of hours despite lots of asking it was clear that tourists would not be able to play. I know you've had to survive with locals during these times but tourism will come back and I'll not recommend this place to anyone visiting QT anymore as its full of rough local lads and miserable staff.

Staff were incredibly rude, and I see this isn’t a unique experience reading others’ reviews. I was grabbed by the arm by a non-uniformed staff member who was rudely pushing through the crowd, hard enough to leave a bruise. Upon asking not to be grabbed again, was rudely shoved out within a minute of getting in. Bouncer outside was verbally abusive despite just having let our group in and having a friendly chat at the door. Saw the same bouncer in town the following day who said “that’s just our GM she does that sometimes”. Completely unacceptable, both in terms of terrible hospitality and overall customer experience, but also using unreasonable physical force on patrons to deliberately get a reaction - to some people this could be extremely triggering. Never go here, management has ruined this place which used to be a Queenstown hot spot.

The members of staff were so rude as soon as we entered the bar and acted like they didn’t even want you there. I had a drink and was stood by the bar, then I looked around and my drink was gone! I told a member of staff my drink had gone and she said ‘well i didn’t take it’ (brunette hair) and i said ’that’s fine, i know you didn’t take it, but maybe a member of staff cleared my drink without knowing i was still drinking it’ (it had a third still left), this woman then literally looked at me and shrugged her shoulders and walked away,
I thought this was so rude considering i bought this drink about 10 mins ago.
This then happened a second time!! my drink got cleared and the same girl acted like that was normal.
Also i really wanted to go on the bull ride and the person in charge told me i needed a $2 coin and to go to the bar to get one.
Iwent to the bar and they told me they didn’t have any. I waited for over an hour all the while other people were able to get coins and go on the same ride then other people were able to get some coins so then i asked if i could and a different, very kind member of staff helped me and changed my coins.
Anyway i think this bar needs to talk to its employees about making people feel welcome. i am here on holiday and this was the first bar i came to in queen town and honestly you were were so rude and unkind to us! I was with other friends who live in Queenstown and they told me this bar has a reputation for really unfriendly members of staff and to only go if you’re going with good people as the staff will not make u feel welcome at all.

The place has dropped off over the last few years. A few years ago it was a fun place. Recently the quality of the place and especially staff has dropped off and I wouldn't have bothered going.
The bouncer is one of the most arrogant doormen ive encountered anywhere. We were in a group of 8 and are all in our 30s and it was our first bar of the night and we told some friends we were going to cowboys and the friends, who are local, laughed and said good luck.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the least friendly bouncer who clearly needs a new occupation. He didnt make eye contact with any of us and spoke down to us right away. He said our group was too big and there were no tables big enough. We can understand this is possible with level 2 restrictions. So we suggested we split into two tables and were happy to wait. He immediately rejected the idea. We left and as we were leaving let a group of 5 people in.
Won't spend our money here out of principle now.

Went there bought two drinks for $30. Rode the cow and my friend smashed her nose not 5 mins that we
Were there. Management did NOTHING! No refund for ANYTHING! “ sorry you took a sip so we can’t do anything about your friends smashed nose or your $30 worth of beer.” At the very least give me back $15 and I would be happy. You literally said “ sorry not my problem” so BS! Consider your options before going here because they don’t give a f**k about you!

As a 31 year old female I felt completely misogynistically treated by security. I was trying to enter with friends who were 30, myself aged 31 and the security stated that I required my passport for additional ID. No one else in the group of 8 people I was with needed a passport. My drivers licence and bank cards were not apparently satisfactory. Such a shame because I love country music and I just wanted to enter the pub with my friend. The worst part was when I walked 30mins back to my accom to get my passport just to enter - many pub goers said no one else had to get their passport out for entry. Hence I felt this a misogynistic attack - stopping me from entering.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The bouncers were physically abusive to my friend. They let an old man who was masturbating in front of my friend to stay but made all of us leave. This was the worst bar I’ve ever been to. Avoid at all costs.

The best bar to visit in Queenstown. Went with family on Monday night and Wednesday night. Was there till close both nights. Bar staff were amazing and very accommodating. Never been to a bar with such a huge variety of music to cater to all tastes. Free pizza on Wednesday night also. Bar Staff, extremely friendly. Two different bouncers on each night, both relaxed and easy going which is refreshing. Also had the pleasure to meet the owner of the bar. Amazing story which explains why the atmosphere is so welcoming. Bar staff genuinely look like they are a big family. Enjoyed my time so much had to come back with a memento 👌🏾

This is the best bar I have ever been to and I have been to quite a few. Friendly staff and I even got to meet the boss ladies who were just as friendly as them. The hospitality they both showed towards my whanau & I was off the hook. I thoroughly enjoyed Cowboys and loved the way the bar has been decked out. The music was a good mixture and catered for the crowd. To make it that extra special it was awesome to see an actual bull ride in the there. I would highly recommend to anyone who visits Queenstown. I cant wait to go back.

Country is not my thing, but my family wanted to go. Its a decent size bar, and they do karaoke which is also not my thing. The one thing that made me happy was the slight gay friendly vibe. I like to see that in bars. I felt very comfortable with my boyfriend even though it was all country folk. Great sized beers for $16, and you need an ID just to get in. I would say check it out, its fun. Oh and they have a mechanical bull.
