- AnnaNZPoriruaPorirua, New Zealand156 contributionsGreat morning outWhat am awesome market. We thoroughly enjoyed wandering around in the sun trying all the food stalls and trying all the samples. We loved the crepes, hot pork sandwiches, dumplings, all the amazing baked goods, cheese, honey, skin creams and balms, and just the general atmosphere. I would have stayed longer but my husband thought I'd spent enough money 😆Sounds like you had a great day tasting all the wonderful food, we do find it hard to decide whats for lunch each Saturday. - SuperpearAshburton, New Zealand1,343 contributionsBrilliant marketThis is just what a great local market should be. It's not huge but the stalls are high on quality. Plenty of food, drink, coffee, plants, arts and crafts, plus live music to keep you entertained. A real positive is that all the stalls I bought from have the facilities to pay by plastic.Thank so much for joining us for our Opening Day and for your kind words. A killing time drop in place that has a lot of appeal for any typical 'marketeers' & wandering around this popular area in the Autumn sun was relaxing.
Plenty of close by parking.
Pet friendly too.

What a great market! Great music, great coffee, great range of just about everything! The location is amazing. The views from this site are second to none as well. Even if you're not into markets, this is worth a look. It's not your everyday market in the fact that there doesn't appear to be any "junk" there. Quite often you go to one of those and it's a series of little trinkets and rip offs, but this one isn't one of those.
If you're in Queenstown it would be remiss not to go and have a look. It's Saturday mornings from 8am!

I have been to a lot of markets all over the world. Many generally sell the same old poor quality, imported items, but Remarkables Market really showcases the local growers and artisans. If you are after something locally produced and high quality, this is the place to get it.
Remarkables Market has an amazing selection of stalls and literally has a bit of everything from fresh produce (includes organic), meat and eggs (includes free-range), homemade sourdough, ready meals, cheese and deli items.
Not only that, it also has a wide range of gift and home wares which have been handmade by the locals (plants, garden artefacts made from re-cycled wine barrels, scented soy candles, cushions, clothing and more).
Enjoy a latte and bacon butty, while sitting in the sun, listening to local musicians; or have a good browse around the stalls and chat to the vendors, who are the friendliest bunch of people. It has a really upbeat and happy atmosphere.
It’s a great way to idle away your Saturday morning. I highly recommend it. The prices are extremely reasonable, but you will want to buy lots, so my advice is to take plenty of cash, as only a small number of stalls take EFTPOS or Credit.

If you have ever bought bread in a supermarket in Queenstown, you will know the bread is doughy & terrible. Thank god for the Remarkables Market. Real bread, ripe fruit, merino brand lamb straight from the producer! Stir Teas amazing range of teas & tisanes, the Tropical Tea is a must buy! Do yourself a favour go along, buy real food to eat & cook with!

Great selection of stalls and food. The atmosphere has a real buzz about it and the stallholders are all super friendly. Everything is local. I visited their special Mid-Winter Market and spent 3 hours there. I will definitely be a regular when it re-opens for the 2012 summer season, in spring.

This is one of those hidden places where you find locals and not a bus full of only tourists! Such a cosy market. It's very small but lots of variety! We tried the bacon stand, Zamora pork sandwich, empanada with pork, had a juice, bought Manuka honey, marmelade, fruit, veggies, cake & we did a wine and local QT craft beer altitude tasting (also met the brewer!). There is a nice bouncy castle for kids and toys. There are picnic blankets to sit and eat. There is great music. We bought a nice piece of lamb meat from cardrona lamb for on our bbq in evening, delicious!! There is plenty more to explore like a wood carver, beauty products, baby products, soap, probably forgetting much more! It's every Saturday from 9-2 but not in autumn and winter. Not in QT center but near the airport/ remarkables mountain. There is plenty of parking space and a bus goes to the shopping area. Hidden spot to go to in QT!

Its nice to have the opportunity of seeing goods from the Central Otago area in the one place. I often see things in other peoples places and wonder where they got that from, then you go to the market and there it is.
For most artisans, a market is the one place where they can display thier craft without the huge cost of a shop, so you get a good variety of quality goods. The food is great as well and the views are amazing. Not many markets have views like that.
Dont miss it.

The markets were a nice little morning out with a variety of food options, craft stalls, fresh produce, clothing and plenty of odds and ends but we managed to see everything that was there in about 30 minutes and that was taking our time.
My biggest recommendation would be to NOT park in the parking area adjacent to the markets but to drive a tiny bit further (pass the markets on your left) and park in the parking area on the right where there are hundreds of free spaces without the hassle of driving around and around looking for a spot. We saw so many people driving in circles looking for a spot when they could have driven literally 50 metres further and walked for less than a minute to the markets without that trouble.

Had a hard time locating this market due to the incorrectly placed marker in the Location map, this needs to be updated. It's actually at the end of Hawthorne Drive, past the airport and the Remarkables Town Shopping Centre. Maybe if I had just looked for the signs, I wouldn't have been driving around in circles. Other than that, when we got there, they had nice fresh bread, vegetables and seafood. If we hadn't eaten a large breakfast, we may have even bought more. A good place to visit if you like food markets.

Love this market. The place where you can buy fresh cheeses, wild smoked salmon, peonies, sweet cherries and merino lamb. Partially sheltered if the weather changes. Original Kiwiana Art and quality gifts made by the stall holders. Omazing day out😀
