- GGs ReviewsWellington, New Zealand47 contributionsQueenstown Mall - onwards and upwards! We visited at the end of May / 1st week of June 2021 and expected Queenstown to be very busy but, to OUR delight it was the opposite. It provided the opportunity for us to stroll through the mall and visit just about every shop. It was apparent that Covid 19 has adversely impacted the area and the "please-buy-from-me" look on many shop owner/manager faces left us feeling very guilty and sad. Some shops were still very expensive and tailored for tourists but, the majority of shops had excellent prices/deals/specials at the time and we certainly spent generously....The restaurants that we visited in the Mall continue to provide excellent service and food. Shop staff were still friendly and very helpful. So, overall, Queenstown Mall was very pleasant to visit and we sincerely wish all owners/managers/staff well.Visited June 2021Written August 24, 2021
- Moana033Auckland, New Zealand195 contributionsQuietEerily quiet, you can definitely feel the effects of Covid where this once was a bustling place is just trying to survive the tide. Still good eating spots. I noticed in the souvenir shops their price tags are still the same - selling a medium sized soft toy lion for well over $120. Good luck I say.Visited January 2021Written January 21, 2021

Subsequent ride, reduced to $24 (Again, no meter - ‘negotiated’) A couple of daytime solo trips (same distance) $14 / $15 (Metered, using a phone) The taxi drivers seem to use their own phones as ‘meters’ - and when questionned, say they are ‘legal’ and can’t be manipulated. When booking accommodation make sure parking is included if you have car. I would probably stay out of town if I came again and use the bus. Walking tracks not well sign posted and some require walking on the side of main road. Better paths needed. We stayed in Queenstown for 2 days but I would recommend 1 week, there is so much to do & see, the brochure do not do it justice, one of the most spectacular places I have seen. The mall is only a small part which is really cute but it leads to cafes, restaurants & shops along the river front, the beauty is breathtaking, the food is amazing, the steak is just so tender & tasty! Everything is within walking distance & being in town with snow covered mountains & blossom trees was incredible!

There isn't too much to do in Queenstown besides Eat, Drink and go skiing. In town there are a lot of shops but nothing was cheaper than anywhere else- in fact most items where overpriced because of the area and tourists that the town attracts. The best thing about the mall is the food.

Are there clothes shops there ? Male business shirts ?? Are the shops walking distance from the Esplanade lake ?

I think you need to use NZ currency or simply use your credit card. Everywhere in Queenstown is within walking distance of the Lake. There is plenty of shopping available, so I'm sure you will find what you need. Cheers.

What food is available on Milford sounds tours

We choose a trip on milford cruises which was a smaller vessel, and in my opinion far better than the larger tour vessels, there was no food for the trip,as it was only for an hour or two, also been on the overnight Milford tour which i would recommend and the food was great, nice evening meal with plenty of choice and nice breakfast with all the usuals, had a bar also, nothing better than sipping wine looking down the Milford sound to absolute silence, food was included you pay for your drinks.
PERFECT.......

How hilly is it? My husband needs a walking stick and is fine on level ground but not hills. Thanks.

The Mall is fairly flat, getting around with a walking stick should be ok.
