This one day hike will provide you with a most excellent memory of NZ and its natural landscape.
The hike wasn't easy but is doable for amateur hiker.
Stephen was our guide and was incredible with the pace, information, and care.

We spent a good part of the day walking through a 1000 year old forest. It was breathtaking, beautiful and quiet. The guide was knowledgable and funny as he brought the forest to life for us. It was an experience of a lifetime.

Snowshoeing was a first for me! and I just loved it.. Thanks again for inviting me to join the group and thanks to Peter to make the trip so nice and confortable. I and will recommend it to my clients coming to Queenstown. Completely different from skiing, it's so nice to walk up and down the hills so easily at your own pace - no queue to get on the chair lifts ! Nothing is around you except the purity of those breathtaking scenaries.

Writing this review to let others know our experience. Pros: Emily our guide was great. Craig our jet boat driver was great as well. Scenery was beautiful.
Cons: Unbeknownst to us the lunch provided has to be carried by you. We shared a backpack so we didn't have enough space. Lunch was sub-par in our opinion. Lunch bags were cheap and ripped. Jackets were also provided which was great as they were very nice jackets but had we known we wouldn't have packed our own jackets as was noted to bring. Never went to the "Maori cave" noted in the "Highlights" nor did we stop at the cafe in Glenorchy.
Summary: Over-priced

Kia ora TravelBug1010479,
Many thanks for taking the time to place a review on your recent experience, your feedback is very valuable to us and we will be taking immediate action to address the concerns you raise about the quality of your lunch. We will also be sure to update the content in our collateral to make it clear that there is an option to borrow jackets instead of using your own and that your lunch needs to be carried. Our sincere apologies that your trip did not include a visit to the cave as mentioned on our website or the stop at the cafe in Glenorchy, we will follow up with our team in relation to this. We're really pleased to hear that you found the scenery to be beautiful and the quality of our guiding and jet boat driving to be great. Thanks again and safe travels.

If you only have limited time during your stay in Queenstown this is the trip you must do.
The trip commences with a 45 min. drive out to Glenorchy which in itself is one of the most scenic drives you can take in the South Island. Followed by an exhilarating Jetboat ride up the Dart River, heading towards the Southern Alpes, with views to die for everywhere you look. Then Peter, our guide came to meet the boat and escorted us on a 2 hour walk through the forest to Lake Sylvan. As our tour was off the public walking tracks we didn't see another person so we were completely at peace with the nature and fauna that we were surrounded by. Peter was the perfect host, fun, knowledgeable and packs a great lunch. Sitting by lake Sylvan sipping a hot cup of tea, whilst enjoying our sandwiches, we didn't want to leave. After lunch we walked for another hour, stopping along the way to view a secret cave (only Peter knows where it is) and we all learnt a few Man Vs Wild skills. Once we exited the forest our vehicle was waiting for us for the equally enjoyable return trip to Queenstown. Thank you for a fabulous day out.

Like a few others here, booking in for showshoeing was a bit of a last-minute decision by us, and we did it not really knowing what we were getting ourselves in for.
It turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire NZ stay!
Pickup was prompt in an immaculate van with an entertaining and informative guide (Pete), with whose expertise we would have been comfortable walking up any mountain in any weather. In fact the weather could not have been better and we enjoyed million-dollar views at a basin just shy of the top of The Remarkables. Nothing beats a hot cup of coffee, sitting in a freshly-carved show-seat, enjoying the serenity.
Could not recommend this activity more highly. If you haven't been snowshoeing, why not?

It was a really enjoyable day spent with our capable and knowledgable guide Jenny! The adventure began with a jet boat “flight” on the Dart River (not to be missed!) and continued when Jenny met our small group and took us along the quiet trails of Mt. Aspiring National Park. As a photographer, I found ample opportunities to focus on birds, fascinating plants and other unique finds along the way. This day-long experience added greatly to our time in New Zealand!

One of the challenging parts of traveling as a family is to find activities that appeal to both seniors and children alike, especially in a town like Queenstown which promotes itself as an adventure capital with activities that most seniors won't engage in. Luckily our tour group turned us on to Guided Walks. My 77 year old mother and I had a really nice walk around the lake perimiter with Seb. Seb was very knowledgeable about the flora and geology of the area including pointing out which plants were actually edible. (I'm still here so I guess he was right).
When we arrived at the path there was a solid hour where we saw no one, giving us the feeling of having the entire lake to ourselves. Part of the path is uneven and interrupted by streams and rocks but Seb was very good at offering a hand to my mother when the terrain buckled below. Having tea out on the shore was a great goal to keep her motivated as well. Really nice day spent outside.

Thank you for taking the time to review your Lakeshore Forest and Bird guided walk with us, we are so pleased to hear that both you and your mother enjoyed your trip. We are very lucky to have access to these beautiful locations and to have some extremely knowledgeable guides on our team like Seb, and it's always great to hear a trip that has hit the mark for the whole family. Thanks again for your feedback and comments, safe travels and we hope to see you again one day.

The walk was beautiful. Our group had the option to go to the waterfall and if given the option I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s a long hard walk and the view was pretty unimpressive. Going to the waterfalls adds a lot of time and distance to the walk and makes it an extremely long day. I think we would have enjoyed it more had we just eaten lunch and had time to really enjoy the scenery at routeburn flats. The walk there and back to the flats gets a little repetitive and boring . The routeburn track is a highlight of the region and I would recommend this walk if you can only do a day trip. Our guide Shawn was wonderful and lunch was good as well.

Many thanks for taking the time to place your review on Trip Advisor, and thanks also for your feedback which is always valued. We're pleased that you found the scenic Routeburn to be a highlight overall and that you enjoyed your guide and lunch. We'll certainly pass on your feedback regarding the additional optional walk to the falls to be a little long and challenging. Safe travels and all the best.

what was the price charged for this? thanks

New Zealand16 contributions
Kia ora Angela.
The price varies dependent on the trip you choose. As an example a half day Forest & Bird is NZ$107, a Full day Routeburn $242, the full day Rob Roy and Ultimate Nature Experience are in the $300-$500 price bracket. All include transport, an experienced and knowledgeable guide and refreshments. These are all group rates, there is a surcharge for private trips. If you can be more specific on ythe trip you are interested in I will answer with full details.
Kind regards
