This is a concept I’ve never seen before where all of the wines are available to dispense through the use of a wine card bought in the shop. You insert your card, select the bottle on display and the amount you want in the glass and pay for that amount. There are three amounts available.

When you have your wine you can sit outside or on the seats inside and drink it with a selection of cheeses or other snacks. This is amazing but could turn you into a complete wino which in NZ is probably not a bad thing!!

The wine offerings are numerous and the walls lined with bottles usually connected to a spout which you can dispense one of 3 amounts into your glass using a card placed into a slot on the machine. Each bottles has "tasting notes" to help you choose which you want to taste. The costs depend on the price of the bottle so there is a range basically $30-100NZ/bottle so a small taste starts at $3.10. There are wines from all over the world and many NZ so for me I could taste NZ without buying a bottle. The venue is fun besides with a fireplace and TV for a sports match. I had the bread and dip tapas which was delightful with the "dukkah"! At the end you retrieve your drivers license by paying what has been indicated on your wine card. Cheers!

What a great idea. This shop has a huuuuge selection of wines alongside a smaller offering of whiskey and other spirits. They have a small selection of wines of different varieties that are available to try in a vending machine style. You choose the size you want (taste, half, full glass) - the machine shows the different prices for each wine and you purchase it using a chip card. It's a fantastic opportunity to sample a very expensive wine that you might not otherwise get to try. They also have some whiskey's available to sample this way. Unfortunately I didn't have time to come back the next day but I saw they also offered gin flight tastings too.

I visited in January, purchased $1,335 of wine for them to ship back to the U.S. They shipped during the coldest month of the year in Chicago (which no wine retailer or winery does) and the wines were ruined. I tried contacting them to resolve but haven’t heard from them in 8 weeks. I paid full insurance on the shipment and haven’t received dollar one!

First time visiting the store in Arrowtown. The store is beautiful, extremely well finished with a great atmosphere.

The staff however, not so great. The American gentleman with the grey hair, simply could not have shown any less of an interest if had of tried. His service was poor, came across smug and extremely condescending. At one point he cleaned a table next to use, then dragged the chair across the floor and returning it to where we were sitting. Actually damaging the floor in the process. When paying the bill, he didn’t ask if we enjoyed it, say please for our payment etc. Very very poor. The Asian lady who delivered our cheese board, didn’t explain the cheeses etc, also poor.

As locals, we were hoping for so much more as we love visiting Arrowtown, however, we won’t be returning to the winery.

Happy to discuss this in more detail.

What a unique and innovative idea. Wines you can try at a tiny tiny price. Great selection of gins also - including some locals. We sat outside as it was a lovely afternoon but there were plenty of people spread out inside too. Options for food too

The place has an excellent wine/spirits selection that includes still, sparkling and fortified wines. The tasting format is very straightforward and allows to try different options at the same time. There are also old vintages available to try. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Totally recommended.

We were in Queenstown for just three days, and thoroughly enjoyed happening on this place. Wonderful selection of wines; helpful staff. Tastings with some cheese/meat trays. Lovely way to spend an afternoon, learn about wine, and stock up on some for our 2 weeks of traveling that followed!

The Winery at Arrowtown's a hidden gem. Whether you want just a coffee, or a tasting flight of local gins, or to try some of their huge range of wines, this is the place. Our first visit we checked it out then enjoyed a coffee in their oversized leather club chairs. We came back a couple of days later for tastings: a gin flight for me, whisky for my husband. Lovely to relax in the comfy chairs and enjoy a leisurely, unpressured tasting. There's outside seating as well. Dont miss it.
