    disc golf!
The gardens are absolutely beautiful and a peaceful place for a sit down in nature. They are very well-kept, and there are plenty of benches and grass space. It's so nice to see groups of people having picnics or even work meetings in the park. My favourite part about the gardens is the disc golf - the course is very well coordinated with a mix of difficulty for a fun game. It seems to be very popular, so it's clear to see that it's enjoyed by many others as well as myself. I have spent hours and hours in these gardens watching the sunset, playing disc golf with friends, and taking a picnic lunch to sit in a little piece of paradise.

    Lovely roses and sculptures
You won’t need much time to walk through it, but worth it. Of course the rose gardens may not be blooming all year long. I loved the wooed carving of the ferns that was supporting a large tree limb! There are tasteful signs asking that dogs be kept on a leash.

    Very pretty with nice paths
The gardens are very pretty and nice to walk around. A path connects down to the city central. We were able to park near the gardens and walk into the city. Parking can be tough to find in the city and the time limits are less than the lot for the gardens. You can park up to 4 hours by the gardens.

The quote on the entry facade is "Service Above Self." Honor is given to those who have served from New Zealand. The walk around the gardens is exquisite. We were happily surprised to see many people playing Frisbie Golf and lawn bowling. Of course, the sunny day brought out many people to the rocky beach and the cycling trails. The Ice Rink was closed for public skating, but open for our questions:-) Lots to do and see here in this tranquil yet busy setting.

I walked around these gardens 3 times during our stay and saw different things each time. It was lovely. There is a fabulous kids playground right on the foreshore. Great views of both sides of the lake and different little parts all the way through with fountains, ponds, statues and some less manicured more forestry sections. There is an ice skating rink in the middle too. Got some beautiful photos of Queenstown. Very worthwhile!

A lovely morning in Queenstown involves feeling the breeze, sulking into the sunrays, hearing the birds chirping, walking through the yellow, brown and maple colored leaves, and simply enjoying the nature’s finest.
Visiting this beautiful garden is worthwhile. The natural beauty of Autumn is just amazing. The pathwalks are safe. The garden is well maintained. It has drinking fountain too! So bring your water bottle with you when you are going for a stroll.
The views of Lake Wakatipu in between the Garden’s views are picturesque.
Highly recommended walk!

This is a nice park near the downtown area. Nice views and well maintained.

We watched lawn bowling at the lawn bowling center (bocce balls for the rest of us). Quite a hoot; think bocce balls with beer!

We continued on the path towards Arrowtown; great, easy, flat walk with beautiful views of the lake.

I had a free morning before leaving Queenstown and decided to do the Garden walk. I was rewarded with a lakeside walk that took in views of the city and pier areas as well as the lake. The gardens have some inclines but is manageable. The forest of tall trees on the peninsula are magical and several specimens are truly old and full of character. Unfamiliar with this sport, but, there were several teams playing frizbee golf in the forest. A very pleasant walk around the perimeter and the entrance to the gardens has a lovely gazebo - lots of seating around the garden walk. The magnolia buds were not far from blooming and the gardens are well kept - will be beautiful once flowers emerge. A very relaxing location with a playground and delightful cafe on Marine Drive end.

This garden is by the Lake Wakatipu and nearby the town centre. There lovely big trees providing shade. We were there in summer so there a lot of activities in the water and land. Great place to chill and people watch even if you are not going for the water sports.

If you have a few hours to while away in Queenstown, the Gardens are a lovely place to do it.
Most of the walk is around the lake with incredible views of the magic scenery.
Lots of places to stop for a quiet moment or snap some amazing pics.
Not a ‘formal garden’ with lots of information but more a family friendly open space with the occasional sculpture.
Definitely worth a wander… or a run if that’s your thing.

I spent 5 days in Queenstown mainly running and hanging around pubs. We spent quite a bit of time in the park, from doing Parkrun Saturday morning, to just having a walk and loads of games of frisbee golf which turns out is a fantastic way to spend an hour or so.
There is some great giant redwoods in the park and it was noticeable to me that the park was much better maintained than English parks.

Not everything in Queenstown has to cost a lot of $.

The gardens are well worth a visit set out right by the lake. Well laid out with good paths. Once past the bowling green you come to the rose garden which were quite spectacular when we were there in December.

There is also a pond with bird life and a romantic stone bridge. There is also a frisbee course and there were several young people availing of this.

The gardens are well maintained and make for a nice walk

Compared with other botanical gardens there isn't much here except a very good rose garden. However, it was a nice walk around the paths some shaded. Also alongside the lake. Plenty of ducks with food available to feed them. There is a children's play area. Having said all that clearly there many pedestrians in the gardens, both old and young children, wandering around the busy paths. It appears acceptable to allow cyclists (without audible warning) to weave around and amongst them through the gardens. Most considered they had right of way. An accident waiting to happen!!! Why not restrict them next to the lakeside where there is more room and less people.
