From 7 to 70Plus year olds our driver Jake raced at speeds over 100kph and regular heart stopping 360 degree spins. For an hour we traversed both deep water rivers and lake then onto a shallow braided river with ever changing courses. Jake provided good commentary and regular checks on the passengers well being. The Kiosk staff were super friendly and totally knowledgeable. The trip photos are free and online after the trip.

I took the 1-hour tour with Kjet, which covers the lake, main river, and small river. The driver is very kind and knowledgeable, answered many questions we asked. He also took us to a hidden water bush area with crystal clear water. We had about 10 spins and super close to the water bank. Everyone enjoyed it and I highly recommended to everyone!

We visited Queenstown late 2019 at a time of heavy rainfall. The Shotover jet was closed due to the weather but K Jet was running so we decided to go ahead for the experience. The views are great and the initial 360 turns are good fun! However are a short while the ride becomes all the same and dropped well short of the level of adventure I was expecting. Not much of an adrenaline rush after all. Only the two people in the back corners got wet, despite expecting the entire boat would get drenched. Overall pretty tame but nice for the views and to be out on the water.

Went to Queenstown for our honeymoon and as was my first time just had to go on the KJet. We booked the combo with the Helicopter trip. Staff were very accomodating when the weather wasnt good enough for the Helicopter and rebooked for the following morning. We were still able to do the Jet Boat right away.

Both the helicopter and Kjet was great. The speed and the 360 spins were a highlight. Awesome scenery. Highly Recommended!

This was the worst activity that my friends and I decided to do whilst in New Zealand. We were on a boat with a young new driver who seemed quite nervous throughout. I ended up been thrown across the seat when he was doing one of his 360 turns and whacking my head off the corner dash beside the wheel, at quite a force. He became aware of my injury straight away,as I was sitting beside him, but just continued on with the rest of the journey ,ignoring me.This was hugely traumatic and I received an instant swelling to my eye which resulted in a horrific black eye which lasted about 2 weeks. The driver and team were very UNPROFESSIONAL in how they dealt with me afterwards. I received ice in a towel about half an hour AFTER we landed back onshore in a crowded area downstairs with absolutely no privacy. They also delayed quite a lot regarding the incident report form which leads me to suspect that they rarely fill them out when incidents such as mine occur. They were even joking behind the counter saying how the new driver was going to take his next "victim".I was hugely disappointed in what was meant to be a "great" experience and will NEVER EVER be back. I would give it a minus 5 if I could. An absolute disgrace of a company!

The most overrated and overpriced activity of our three week trip to the South Island. The spinning around the first two times is fun but gets old really fast. They also don’t go into the shotover canyon area: only the other speedboat vendor does that. After a while feels like you’re taking a boat transfer with no destination.

Most disappointing was how they run their business: we arrived on time (15 mins early) for a 4pm booking (pre-purchased tickets), planning our day to make sure we go there promptly. Upon arrival we were informed that because they “only” had 4 people booked for that time slot, they “couldn’t / weren’t allowed to” go out with fewer than 5 people, and bumped us to the 5pm time slot (or offered the next day which is of course useless because we we had other plans already). Shortly after 5 pm the sun dropped below the surrounding mountains, the temperature dropped several degrees (it was uncomfortably cold despite wearing several layers) and the typically beautiful blue-green shotover river became a dull muddy grey-brown color.

Worst of all the manager later rudely insisted that they had the right to reschedule based on the Bookit terms and that they’re not “physically allowed” to go out with fewer than 5 people (again, there are were four of us!). She didn’t seem to grasp that this was a business CHOICE that puts marginal profit of one ride over customer satisfaction and fairness. Not to mention false advertising. They claim to leave “on the hour every hour”. Clearly not the case. Furthermore the booking terms indicate: “Kawarau Jet reserves the right to cancel or amend a trip due to weather or unforeseen circumstances at any stage.” Selling 4 instead of 5 tickets for the time slot in no way qualifies as an unforeseen circumstance to any reasonable person. These types of short-sighted decisions sink a business in the long run (no pun intended) so I hope management recognizes this and change their policies (since clearly other people currently tend to have a better experience than we did based on reviews)

For the record, as “compensation” we did receive the photo booklet and digital photos for free, but even this was unpleasant: we were promised this consolation by a staff member when we were first informed of the forced reschedule, but after the ride the manager curtly told us no, that’s not a policy they have, and only begrudgingly handed it over.

Given the poor parking situation downtown, where the pier is located, there could be a unforeseen delay sometimes. Think New Zealanders are easy-going? Not this one. She was rude and abusive to the group that got there off-schedule, and even lectured them. As a bystander, I could see that her manager, a male, was unhelpful in sorting things out and easing the situation for the group. Poor overall behaviour needs some serious re-education. Her name was Abby.

We had two of our friends come down and visit us from Napier and had saved this activity until they arrived so we didn't need to do it twice....well after the experience I could happily say I would do it twice! From the outset the staff were amazing and were great fun to chat with. Once we were in the boat our driver Hamish was keeping us all entertained and well informed on some of the history of the area. A few (a lot) of 360 spins and hair raising close encounters with the various obstacles made for a adrenaline filled hour on the boat. So much so that we forgot how freezing we were until we got back on the pier in Queenstown. In saying that the heated handrails were a nice touch. A great experience overall and the addition of the underwater observatory made for an awesome afternoon. I would highly recommend as a perfect way to see some great scenery while getting the blood pumping.

Hi Cameron, we're also a fan of the heated handrails, 360 spins and hair raising encounters! Glad you had a great time on the big yellows, and hopefully you can make it back one day and come out with us again. Cheers KJet team

Comparing Kjet with Shotover Jet , 1hr vs 25mins and a bit cheaper as well, I thought to go for it. Well a bit of a waste of an hour, okay for younger children or those who don't enjoy an adrenalin rush but for those seeking a thrill ride go for the shotover jet. A few 360 deg spins and a really wide river is not thrilling. Kjet advertise riding two rivers including the shotover river but they stop and turn back just when the river starts to narrow and would get exciting. The driver had to resort to getting close to the trees lining the river banks and throwing in a spin for some cheap thrills, after which it got a bit boring!
