Kayaking is a great way to visit the Sound. We did the sunriser classic, which is a tour suitable for beginners and anyone of an average fitness level. The guide was professional. He made sure everyone had a good time, and told us a lot of interesting history about the area. About halfway into the trip we went ashore for... More

We did the Day Safari trip from Te Anau. Kelly at the front desk organised this for us and was real helpful. Pick up at the YHA was prompt, our driver and Kayak guide (Andrew) was super knowledgable about the local area and pretty entertaining too 🙂. There was quite a lot of people on the trip when we arrived... More

I did the Rosco's "Day Safari" kayak trip from Te Anau and I have to say that the whole experience was one of my best at Milford Sound (and I've done 10+ trips out at Milford!). Kelly in the office was super helpful booking us on the right trip for us hassle-free; and our driver/ kayak guide, Andrew, was awesome... More

We had an amazing kayaking trip at Milford Sound with Rosco's Kayaks. The weather was absolutely stunning - blue skies and snow capped peaks! Our guide Andy was very informative, helpful and friendly; he helped make the trip what it was! The kayaking itself was great fun, very easy to pick up and a fantastic way to see Milford Sound.... Scenery was excellent, we were lucky with seeing Dolphins, penguins and sea lions. Facilities are rough, be advised to bring food (somewhere along the lines that wasn't communicated with us and left us famished having a picnic in the middle of the sound without food), physical strength a necessity as its not for the faint of heart!

The guys are just great!! The activity was amazing!! We got a little tired in the end but we were absolutely astonished with the view and the lake... Everybody should definitely do this, so much better than a boat cruise... They have all the stuff you need to keep you warm and safe... We were very pleased and happy!!

I visited Milford Sound in February of this past year, and my mother, and her friend and I all embarked on a 2 hour sunrise kayak through Rosco's. Although it rained throughout the journey, the area was still beautiful and we had a lot of fun. It was my mother's friend's first time kayaking, but the employees helped her to... More

My friends and I had an amazing day out on the water that even ended with having Dolphins swim along side us. We loved how much we learned on the ride up from our tour guide Andrew. This was one of the best things we did while we were on holiday! It was the best way to see the sound.

I would do this adventure again. I did the sunriser i believe where the kayak's are carried into the sound and you then kayak back. You also go very near the waterfall. I loved everything about the trip except one thing. The instructor/guide was bit rude in the beginning. He needs to have a little more patience.

Milford Sound is a very special place and this is a great way to see it. There were 2 choices - you could meet the guides in Milford at 10am or, like us, you could be picked up from Te Anua. I'm so pleased we chose this option as Te Anau is a lovely place to stay and our guide,... More
