Definitely worth going. My partner rates it as excellent. A museum come motor yard come yesterday's town, out of the ordinary, interesting, worthwhile, and there for others to try and form an opinion. Paying is optional but it is easily worth several
Gold coins and more as it is unique, and with value.

This is a labour of love. It is free for those to wander around the ghost-town, a collection of items found and abandoned across the South Island's demolition sites. It's both funny and creepy.

We had heard great things about this place and decided to take our grandchildren, who were visiting Invercargill for a few days. Checked online and the info said it was open. Tried the phone number - no reply. Drove the 5 minutes our house to Demolition World and found it was closed. Drove home again. Checked the website and the info said it was open. Grrr. Kids were great about it and enjoyed our trip to fantastic Queens Park instead.

Not sure I would recommend this weird place - certainly it wasn't for me. Lots of old tat that has seen better days gathering dust and cobwebs. Didn't feel that safe standing on some of the dodgy floors either, like they could give way any time. Just a bit yuck but hey, its free (or almost - donation box) Make of it what you will!

Perhaps I was expecting too much, having been to Shantytown in Greymouth, but Demolition world was really quite creepy. Perhaps if they removed the weird mannequins with semi-detached heads it might be slightly better? It was just kind of sad to wander around an amazing collection of historical items and see them covered in spiderwebs, dust and well...it was just a big cluttered mess. It would make a good show: "Historic Hoarders." The only redeeming feature was a very cool kids' play ground. Oh, and my 6 year old liked the dog.

We didn't expect much, but boy were we wrong! We are photographers and we spent almost two hours here during the afternoon. We could have easily spent twice as much, but we had to move on. Such a visually intense place, so much to discover. This is a must visit. If we ever come back to the Invercargill area, Demolition World is at the top of our list for a return visit.

Not as neat and tidy as some of the photos show, the place is piled with bits and bobs of every imaginable kind. Bottles, dummies, toys, dentists chairs, records, books, and things I have no idea what they are. This place is probably not for little children as too many sharp edges, unprotected corners, holes in the floors, but as soon as you can trust them they will love this place. You can pick up and look at things, touch items that would normally be in a museum, flick through old books and explore the piles of junk that are everywhere. No fee to go in, but for the entertainment donate accordingly. There is a play area for young children in the back, and chickens & ducks roam free. This place is better than some of the museums I have been to.

A place worth to visit in Invercargill and the coolest place I've ever been. Totally historic and artistic, can be a little bit creepy but I guess it's because of the nostalgic atmosphere. Love it!

絕對有比二手市集跳蚤市場更酷的收藏品,另類藝術的表現。

when we headed off to Demolition world in Invercargill I thought I was going to find piles of windows and doors. They do have that but the owners have also created a village with all their goodies....including a castle, a church, a hospital to just name a few. It is a labour of love on their part and is well worth the gold coin donation to wander around Think my son would have liked to have spent the whole day there!
