An excellent museum, lots of exhibits and plenty to see. could have stayed a lot longer but had a bored 3 year old unfortunately. The Tuataras were brilliant, and the little baby ones were fascinating. Would defiantly return for a longer look next time, minus the grumpy child!

We visited on a recent trip to NZ because we had been told about the Tuataras - and we weren't disappointed. The video about Henry is both informative and hilarious and not to be missed. Plus we were thrilled that he was out and about during our visit. We also enjoyed all the exhibits in the museum, as well. The... More

This museum is at the Invercargill I-site. There is a short 20 minute movie about Burt Munro( i highly recommend this). The rest of the museum, is average or boring. But that's only my opinion. Paintings on the wall, and old war memorabilia aren't my thing. I would still recommend visiting, just for the Burt Munro.

The museum is interesting for local and sub Antarctic history. The exhibit about Burt Munro is more informative than at Heyes.

Although not the biggest museum we've visited in New Zealand, it's one of the best. The exhibits are brilliantly designed to take you to the places they represent. Walk through the WW1 trenches, the sub-Antarctic islands or a Victorian house. The information is fascinating, easy to digest and not patronising. The Maori exhibit really makes you appreciate the hard work... More

The Museum itself is pretty special but add in the Tuataras and you have something amazing. Making this a living breathing Museum. To see the reptiles up close and to understand more about these very special creatures is just so good.

There was some interesting art and various displays. I particularly liked Maori artefacts and information. Would have stayed longer if schedule allowed. I also got to see the tuataras.

This is a great museum, loads of informative exhibits. Even have a live Tuatara exhibit. Could spend a great deal of time there, so great value for your money

Moa bones, war memorabilia, movies about the Antarctica, stones that are millions of years old. Oh, don't forget to have a coffee at their cafe. My daughter loved her soft and moist lolly cake.
