A great 4 hour trip out of Dunedin up the Taieri Gorge. Easy online booking system. We felt a bit cheated that it cost another $10 to park the car for 5 hours in the station car park - a shame that a parking ticket can't be included in the quite costly train ticket deal. The staff on the train... More

This is a 4 hour train trip that takes you across amazing 100 year old bridges and viaducts and along tracks high above roaring river gorges. The scenery is spectacular and the train staff welcoming and friendly. I had no complaints at all.

This is a great journey for a clear day. The train ride is a four hour round trip, and takes in spectacular scenery along the way. There is a snack bar on board, and you can take your own food as well. The trip dovetails nicely with the morning city tour.

Booked as an excursion from our cruise ship, Azamara Quest, we were anxious to see and appreciate more of the inland parts of this beautiful country. When we learned it was to be on an old fashioned railway, we were even more excited. We shared a small table with a stranger who became a friend after this delightful four hour... More

Beautiful old building with amazing stained glass windows and tile work. Definitely worth a visit! I enjoyed reading about the station history and will be taking one of those offered 4 hour scenic train trips during my time here.

A must for visitors to Dunedin. A day-long trip that allows to see the inland of Otago and the old railway track between Dunedin and Middlemarch. Stunning views of the Taieri Gorge.

This is a must do activity if visiting Dunedin. The trip in total was around 4 hours return which at first I thought would be a bit long and boring, but it was the complete opposite. Stunning views, informative commentary and stops along the way for photo opportunities. There is also food and beverages onboard that we found to be... More

The trip was amazing! The views were truly stunning. although four hours felt a little too long the freedom to take everything in at your own leisure was very nice. If you are in Dunedin this is something you must do! Enjoy a few drinks and make a day of it.

No doubt the views were awesome but once you reach the summit you just drive backwards not turning around or changing up the view, so seeing the same scenery throughout the trip. Staff at cafe were alright not the politest, and the food did not have much selection, packet food and cabinet sandwiches. For $91 it seems a stretch but... More

Hello and thanks for taking the time to review your trip with us on the Taieri Gorge railway. Thank you also for your comments - yes, the train does come back the same route - we often get passengers to change sides of the carriage for the return trip - not sure if this happened with your trip or not....
