Overview
More
Penguin Place is a private conservation effort to help save the world's most endangered penguin, the Yellow Eyed Penguin. Visitors are taken on guided walking tours through a unique system of trenches and hides to view the penguins undisturbed at close range. Penguin Place is funded 100% by the support of our visitors, this funding enables habitat restoration, predator control, a research programme and on-site rehabilitation for sick, starving and wounded penguins. It is our hope that through our efforts, the future of this rare and wonderful penguin will be assured.

We visited Penguin Place as part of a larger tour run by Monarch Wildlife Cruises, so I cannot comment on specific value for money. The visit included an introduction in a theatre for several minutes, a visit to the Penguin Hospital just outside (where it's...More

A lovely walk with the chance to get up close to view penguins with their chicks while not bothering them, as well as seeing native birds & New Zealand fur sea. They do great work at Penguin place!

Thank you for visiting and supporting our project. As the Yellow-eyed penguin numbers are still actively declining we monitor our beaches very closely so we can help those that are sick, injured or starving. We are so glad you enjoyed your visit.

Excellent wildlife experience, great conservation work, and a beautiful setting! The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. While no wildlife sighting is guaranteed, we did see penguins in the wild, as well as others in the recovery center/sanctuary.
