On holiday down south and the girls wanted to go shopping...had to tag along but the Palms is so clean, fresh and friendly...they had a blast and the pain of tagging along wasn't too bad for us blokes! Great thing is there was no charge for parking...awesome!

We stayed with friends who live down the road. It's very much a locals shopping centre. It's got everything you need. We went to Westfield at Riccartin and actually preferred the Palms. The Chinese massage place next to countdown is awesome.

All the great shops and foodcourt without the hussle and bussle of other huge malls. You don't need to feel the need to wear lable clothing at this mall. Friendly, down to earth. My mall of choice for 20+ years.

A very small Shopping Mall, with bunch of overpriced food court places (including Frenchised McDonald's that are out of their mind with thier food choices and OVER PRICING - I'm not kidding!!!). If you want McDonalds, drive to nearby McDs that are more in line with the corporate pricing.

The other food places are low quality, always giving left overs from previous day and nothing is freshed. Again - This is a continuous experience, is not a one off only.

The shopping stores in the mall are also overpriced, many are closing as nobody's buying there.

All in All: this mall is a very poor quality mall! Drive to Riccarton mall... I live in Central Christchurch, and Palms is close to us. We refuse to do business with these greedy little shops and restaurants, including McDonalds.

OOOhhh I hate The Palms. It's poky, cramped and dark. It's not like shopping malls are fabulous destinations anyway but this particular exponent of the genre is down right depressing. The car park is complicated, dark and dank and I have to say that, although well stocked, the supermarket inside the mall bears the same features. Try Northlands for a slightly better Northside shopping experience if you have to venture to al mall. That said, The Palms does have a Hoyts multiplex cinema as well as all the usual businesses and outlets found in Australasian shopping malls.

As the closest mall to my house, I suppose I spend most of my shopping time here. Although if i'm honest i'm not much of a shopper, however I go to the cinema heaps, which the palms is by a long shot the cheapest and best value in town. On a weekend its usually heaving, and i recommend ordering online where you can basically walk straight into your screen picking your tickets up at the area where you would usually show your tickets on the way through, if that makes sense.

So nice to have a mall that is not unpleasantly crowded. Great food court with space around it. Shopping is leisurely. Movie theater is handy. Parking is ideal.

Easy to reach with various buses or by bicycle, The Palms even has a cinema.
Lots of shops and restaurants.
Little parking for bicycles.

Went here on crutches due to my current broken ankle, very good service, let me and my girlfriend use a free wheelchair to help us get around to do our shopping. Afterward a helpful staff member took us to the bus stop so that I did not have to walk all the way there on crutches then took the chair back for us. All in all a great experience.

We initially visited The Palms to go to KMart, but found ourselves wandering in and out of several shops, not to mention the ample food court. The mall is larger than we'd expected, with major stores represented including Countdown supermarket.
Car parking can be tight, but using the roof parking then using the travelator down to the shops is an easy option.
Yes, it's a typical NZ mall, but it does have its own "personality"
