This is a lovely wetland area and on a nice day it's s brilliant place to wander in the sun and watch the birds while getting some exercise. We had to shoo a fair few cats away. Collars with bells owners please!
Wonderful 6km loop walk. Swamp had a great raised dry path. Lots of variety of birds. This time of year there were lots of active nests. Great way to spend the day and one of the few opportunities to see birds outside of a zoo...More
Driving past in the evening with the Southern Alps as a backdrop gives a great sense of what Canterbury would have been like before Christchurch arrived - swamp, cabbage trees and flax.

We took our kids and their cousins along the wetlands walkway and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The track is wide enough for the kids to run ahead, but if you take your time there's lots to see, including Pukekos and eels.
