I went to the cricket and the botanic gardens at Hagley park. Great way to get exercise and fresh air. Get out of your hotel room and check it out. It's only a 15 minute walk from the city. And it's free. Please enjoy.

Great place for all ages. There is a very nice coffee shop/ restaurant also lovely walks. For children there is a great playground with a paddling pool for extra hot days. Gets very busy during school holidays

Walked around and found a geocache - shame we are a week early for Kiwi beer festival? Had hoped to see some of the buskers but guess we were too early?

Very large open space for Christchurch dwellers to enjoy year round. Very reminiscent of Bushey Park in SW London, like Henry VII hunting grounds, but being Christchurch, flat as a pancake

A great place to spend time relaxing in the heart of the city. Not too distant from the river Avon. We walked through the park on our way to Riccarton to seek out some shops. Mostly quiet with some shay trees.

This is a must if you visit `Christchurch. The buildings may have been damaged but fortunately not the trees in the gardens. There are some beautiful examples of beech, kauri, rimu, cedar etc that are hundreds of years old. The shapes and sizes are spectacular....More

A large park in, almost, the centre of Christchurch. Two lakes, plenty of wildlife and sporting facilities.
