urpHagely Park is a beautiful park and only surpassed in New Zealand by the Auckland Domain and Invercargill's Queens Park. It is always a pleasure to walk through in one of Christchurch's sunny days.

Hagley Park is the huge green lung west of Christchurch city centre. At 165 hectares, Hagley Park is larger than Hyde Park in London. First created in 1855 to be "reserved forever as a public park, and shall be open for the recreation and enjoyment of the public", it was named after Hagley Park in Worcestershire, England, the country estate... Massive expanse of parkland. Lots to see and do. Great for picnics on a sunny day. Take a gondola on the River Avon or visit the Botanical gardens, there is lots to do. Child friendly and grown ups too. A great day out.

Always a nice re-energising outdoor space, with plenty of seasonal changes to see. Always try and walk through the New Zealand garden on ANZAC Day and visit in spring to see the spring flowers.

I didn't have much time to walk around, however it was a beautiful park, with both great open grassy spaces, and some more formal gardens near the museum. I will spend more time walking around next time I am in Christchurch.

The park itself is to large to cover in just this one review - however the section we were on was very pleasant. Parking was easy - right across from the blood bank. Tracks were easy to follow and despite running... More

This park is gorgeous no matter what the season. Something for everyone at Hagley with the Botanical Gardens in one area, sports grounds in another, long leisurely walking tracks around and through the north, south and "little" Hagley sections. Many large blossom trees and millions of bulbs in spring bring glorious colour to the city. Autumn is just as stunning... More

I love spending time here. Great walk to see their garden. It is really the most beautiful garden I have seen in New Zealand.
