Only saw a small bit of this obviously enormous park, but enjoyed a Christmas Day lunchtime bbq at one of the bbq stations near the tennis courts and lake (with lots of ducks). Great for visitors that there are bbq stations like this - I guess locals mostly opt to use the barbie at home. Anyway we would do it... More

Cantabrians are very lucky to have such a wonderful park in the heart of their city. It is over 1 mile square and has well surfaced paths that are well lit by lamps at night. There are a number of playing fields used by schools on the park as well as an 18 hole golf course. The river Avon winds... More

Although I did not think that Christchurch was as busy as I thought it would be, it is always nice to have large green areas where you can get away from it all. Nice big area with plenty of space.

This is a huge park space that has many purposes. It has a golf course in it, a walking track and is used for many events, buskers, noodle night markets, concerts and lantern festivals

this park surrounds the botanical gardens. You can spend hours walking around here, sitting next to the lake, having a picnic or sitting on a bench reading a book.

The park was at it's best with no wind and the sun shining for a beautiful morning walk. This is a must do if you are staying in Christchurch with kids cycling to school, people cycling to work and lots of dog walkers. Great to see it well used.

Very large, 150,000 hectares, open space within the Christchurch city. Diverse range of trees, shrubs and plants. Many sports venues - cricket, tennis, golf. Cycle paths & pedestrian paths. Open areas where open air concerts have been held. Huge range of bird life. A truly delightful, well maintained facility open to city residents and visitors.
