Diamond Harbour is mine and my two children's favourite day trip and picnic spot. We drive (or catch the bus) to Lyttelton and catch the ferry to Diamond Harbour, then climb the steps and hill to a beautiful park at Stoddart Point. The park has gorgeous views of Lyttelton Harbour and Port, and all the way out to the heads... More

My hubby was in a conference all day so I drove around Lyttelton Harbour for fun. At Diamond Harbour there's a walking path down to a pebble/rock beach overlooking the harbor. I stopped for awhile and read my book while enjoying the boats, ducks, and occasional hikers. Not necessarily a destination...but if you're in the neighborhood, worth a quick visit.

A good drive around the coastal inlet from Lyttelton through some lovely bays to get to Diamond Harbour. Well worth the drive and had Light lunch at the Godley Cafe.

This a real sleepy hollow and an easy place to miss out on seeing. A great way to see it is to take the ferry over from Lyttelton and enjoy the views of the harbour on the way over.

Great place to picnic or wake up to the dawn chorus of wild birds. Great toilets and huge picnic table, well kept grassy areas. Great views.

Taking the ferry over from Lyttelton (which takes Christchurch public transport cards) and wandering around Diamond Harbour is a delight. A few nice wee cafes, good picnicking spots, and a safe beach.

Took the ferry from Lyttleton to Diamond Habour in the morning. It was $12.40 per adult return. You then walk to where Godley house once was. There are 2 places to eat. We enjoyed a tasty lunch in Chalfont café and bar, it has a very good menu. The other place was too hot to sit in as it was... More

While visiting Christchurch, please take the time to visit Diamond Harbour, you will not regret it. Catch the regular bus service from the Christchurch Central bus depot to Lyttleton. Once there, have a good look around this very old shipping port & you will find it is full of very interesting history, like Sir Robert Falcon Scott who sailed from... More
